My parent's generation. it's hard to believe that they are in their 70's now. My mom was pregnant with me when she went to Woodstock music festival; my dad was in Vietnam. So, I guess I can say I've seen her live performance.
Rest in peace, Melanie. In 1970, I was eight years old when Lay Down was released. I loved hearing this song on the radio. Melanie’s voice was so powerful! I still get chills listening to it.❤💐
This song made a deep imprint in my psyche when it first came out along with Beautiful People. Woodstock 69 during her performance people raised lit candles which I believe inspired her to write this song and eventually recorded it with the Edwin Hawkin Singers. I think lit candles during her songs started that whole phenomenon of lighting lighters at rock concerts. Now cell phones light up. Her voice is so beautiful and distinctive. RIP Melanie🕯️♥️Forever
Rest In Peace, Melanie Safka. Maman was a tween when you recorded this classic in 1970. She says you are a worthy successor to Tina Tuner spiritually and vocally with your own unique power and timeliness. All the rain today was cheers greeting you in Heaven!
