All that money for that customized harmonica and it appears to me-its somewhat sub-standard. I have a stock Suzuki SCX-64 thats more airtight and I only paid $220.00 for it. Maybe this particular one didn't receive the same attention the rest do??
Yes, I have two models of them, named 'Alien' and 'Starry Sky.' I got them from Boss Fei Fan during my performance at APHF. They are indeed two great harmonicas."
Does the slide go against the aluminum or is there a steel backplate on the new comb. I would think the slide rubbing against aluminum would be very bad in a short period of time.
Great video! I'm trying to learn it by following the instructions you have given. Not sure, but i may be doing it incorrectly right now - i am creating the effect by fluctuating the force with which i blow/draw. On the blow it is especially difficult.
That's not only an unboxing, it's also a technician and musician comprehensive overview about this instrument. From that perspective, I can say that there's no one as good in the harmonica world than you. Thank you very much..
Hi DMing. I watched your clip and now I want to buy comb aluminium for scx 65. But I don't go to the shop sell comb in goofish because I don't know Chinese. How the way can buy comb? Can you show me. Tks
Hello, where can I buy the aluminium com for the Hohner super 64? Thank you DMing for your hard work with putting these videos together for us, cheers. Wylie
Hello DMing, where did you get the plug-ins from please? I liked your video of this harmonica and would like to purchase one for myself and I think the plug-ins are a great idea. Cheers from Australia. Wylie.
Do you have any opinion on the Easttop Performer 16? I found some reviews on RU-vid, but the videos look a bit advertisement-like, while its ratings on Amazon are good.
Thank you for all the thoughtful evaluations of Harmonica on market today. Could you do an unboxing and review of Kongsheng Lyra. I am thinking of purchasing.
great and complete comparison! Could you test Seydel's chromatics? Since I bought it, it has been my go-to harmonicas, Deluxe Steel, Saxony and Volcany
Thank you for your videos, I just began my harmonica playing and am greatly thankfull for your sharing your immence insight in every aspect of the harmonica lifecycle. Are there guidelines as to the amount of reedgapping?
Reed gap adjustment is a technique that relies heavily on personal feel. Each harmonica has different reed plates, chambers, and body designs, so the ideal gap can vary.
(Translated to simplified Chinese by Googles Translate.)
You do not need to unscrew all the screws for the tuning plate on a Polle Harmonica. Only the top two. You loosen the row below, so you can easily remove the tuning plate and carry out maintenance.
I previously commented on your Hohner Super 64x repair video but since this is a newer video you may see it sooner. I have a 24 year old Hohner Super 64x harmonica I bought new for $125 US although they steadily increased in cost to around $650 US before they topped production of that model.. Mine is still in pristine condition as I am not primarily a harmonica player but I do play it occasionally. Mine is air tight and the paint and gold plating on the mouthpiece is like new since I spend a lot of time cleaning and maintaining it when I do play it. The reeds have held up fine and good tune although I make a point of not bending the notes or overstressing them. I am curious how that old harmonica compares to some of the newer high end harmonicas. I know Hohner discontinued my version and has a newer version now but it looks nothing like the one I have.
I also really like the design and playing feel of the old model. The new models can be modified to achieve better performance than the old ones, but it requires a higher cost.
Wow... even on this stage of your adjustments, the instrument sounds sweet. I'd be happy with harmonica after what you've done to it. But you are planning to go even further. Sir, you are a perfectionist. It's not a common quality of masters these days. Thank you for sharing your expertise and time.
