Thank you for the tip! Would the process be the same if the Ford 9 inch has a limited slip or locker?

Your compression gauge may be wrong. I've had 2 harbor freight ones neither one read right.
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
Well mine works fairly accurate not everything harbor freight is going to work accurate when you purchase it cheap Chinese tools

You need to stop the fuel delivery before compression testing. I pull the fuel pump fuse while the car is running and let it die before doing any compression testing. Replace the fuel pump fuse when you're done testing.
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
Did that thanks

Turning the motor over via the starter relay bypasses the need to keep going in and out if the cab. It also bypasses the fuel pump from being activated.
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
sounds good thanks

Do I need to disconnect the fuel? Wouldn't the fuel melt/clog the catalytic converters?
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
I would just disconnect disconnect the injectors that way you're not getting any excess fuel into the cylinders

Thanks for the video. I was looking forward to a timelapse of steps for removing axles and tranny. This is akin to watching a cake recipe with the baker is shown icing the cake. Lol.

Yeah that's cool thanks for watching

Do a dry and wet test, wet test add a little bit of oil into the cylinder to seal microscopic leaks.
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
I did a wet test as well just had enough time to film this

15mm, or as it's supposed to be, 9/16" socket.
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978 2 года назад
It was a 15 mm socket that I used to remove the nuts that hold the axle in but I'm sure they're not the OEM hardware someone has probably worked on this truck prior to me doing any service on this vehicle

@@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978 gotcha, just stating Incase others don't have a 15mm, they can use the 9/16", or vice-versa.

Simple and straight to the point. Much appreciated! I need to redo the seals on the diff of my 79 T-Bird and I had no idea what I was looking at ( having owned a 98 mustang ) This video definitely taught me something 👍

how do you remove the seal?
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978
@jerrymobilemechanicsroadsi4978 2 года назад
I just used a host pick you're able just to puncture the seal and then you can use the host pick if it's curved to kind of wedge it back most of them aren't really pressed in super tight the original one has been on there since the vehicle was built and it didn't take long for me to take it off without having to use a puller or a seal puller
