If I pull anything less than 5mL, I never use air. If I need 10mL, I use 5mL of air.

Depends on the pharmacy and teaching. Just saying.

At the end of the video, cleaning the hood at the end, I wiped as though this was a vertical flow LAFW. However, please note this is incorrect. You will want to spray into a wipe, not directly on the surface. You will start from the back corner of the work bench and wipe across side to side, back to front. I am considering removing my school project videos as techniques are changing over time and new guidelines are in place. It was nice to make these for my class/school, but I don't want to misinform learners and have them practice incorrectly in their compounding areas.

Had anyone tried this.. Wearing none of these protective clothing and just plain good hand washing see it will produce the same results vs one in full attire... But before you make comment be sure you've done that experiment.. i bet you results will be equally the same. Good luck

I find this video all wrong. Cleaning the LAFH should be cleaned starting with the top working side to side from the back to the front, then the bar, to the sides from top to bottom back to front, to the work bench side to side back to front. Changing wipes after each area cleaned. This women just contaminated the entire LAFH from wiping back to from back to the back to front taking in contamination with each wipe, never changing her wipe pad.

Hi, I hope this finds you well. This procedure has changed a pretty good bit with USP 800. I just wanted to mention a few things if anyone is watching recently. A few things to take note of is that gloves especially your second layer which is most critical when handling a CSP, should be donned using appropriate technique placing them into a chair before putting them on is really dangerous for contamination. Secondly, hazardous drugs should be primed without drug first to protect nursing from having to prime hazardous drug through the line. Spray bottles are definitely not preferred in USP 800 as this could potentially shoot any uncontained drug into the air. Our facility wipes supplies down with sterile alcohol out of a pourable bottle before entering our C-PEC. You mentioned the use of CSTDs which is highly recommended. Be careful adjusting syringe as a critical sight was covered up around 4:50 into the video. Great job when withdrawing drug with a needle not injecting any positive pressure into the vial Finally, before labeling bag a denomination product needs to be used to protect other staff touching this item. I know this video was posted a while ago I just wanted to provide feedback. Thanks for posting.

Hi! I published this for a school tutorial. We worked in a very general mock IV ROOM. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS FOR ACTUAL PRACTICE. I did not have the appropriate tools/setup that you normal have with an IV/ negative pressure room. Please take this video as a basic tutorial for beginners. I do appreciate all your input for others to know, as well.

what are. aseptic drugs
@Echo852
@Echo852 7 лет назад
Aseptic is a method of preparation, not a type of drug. "Aseptic Technique" is a way of preparing medication in such a way to prevent contamination.
@torimig2151
@torimig2151 7 лет назад
Ok so what your say is that your covered in porotetion gear so you or the drug don't get contaminated
@Echo852
@Echo852 7 лет назад
Bonnet (covers hair), low-lint gown (covers scrubs, prevents air contamination), mask (covers face/nose), gloves (covers hands/wrists). The workbench has HEPA filtered air flowing over it in layers (check out laminar air flow). All of these measures prevent contaminants from getting mixed into the medication.

Back to front, top to bottom. Cleanest to dirtiest. Back, top, side, bar, side, bottom. Visualize particles being on the top dropping down to the work surface below and you're wiping them away.

You should put your hair cover and mask on before you put on shoe covers. Your shoes are dirty. Why would you take the chance of touching your feet then put a hat and mask on with the same hand that possibly touched a shoe?

So we're going to ignore the fact that she washed her hands again? Im not disagreeing with you by the way (God forbid you disagree with someone that's been doing it for 15+ years).

This video was made for a general review of aseptic technique and a school project. Not all USP <797> guideline steps are seen in this video as it was specially tailored for a modified pharmacy teaching environment and limited in time. I would only use this video as a brief introduction. More detailed instructions on proper USP <797> techniques can be found in other videos and by reading through the USP <797> guidelines. Comments are welcome for teaching purposes (please review grammar before posting).

Never, mever open ampule facing the hepa filter (the back of the hood) ONLY to the sides of the hood. Shards may fly into the filter. Close drawer before injecting med into fluid bag?, HInt,,, spray both hands...., labels should never be in the hood. turn around and apply labels immediately outside of the hood. Check 797 again.... Also check cleaning the hood while you are there.

Should have shown how to prime a bag. New tech have an issue with that, especially in the chemo room
