Matt, I just scored my first aristocrat on eBay for $30. It certainly looks like a decent daily driver with some worn plating. I’ll have to decide whether or not to send it to you for a revamp once it’s in my hands.

I am starting to use a shavette after winning a giveaway. I am learning the angle and pressure. What helps me a lot with the shave is building the layers of protection. I feel that getting better with the shavette can transfer to a better shave with a safety razor.
This will also bake your noodle. Different blades do best in different razors and even with some different adjustable razor settings. And it's all personalized to you.
I've been a DE shaver for a few years now, but I will never get rid of my Mach 3 . I've had the same handle for 15-20 years. Every now and then, I get out the Mach 3 and go down memory lane ... part of my story
I got suckered into one of these…. what a joke they are and a waste of money strangely I keep it as a constant reminder of buyer beware…. of course we all wish there was a damaceous steel razor that cheap but no there isn’t 😂
The biggest problem I see with the pink DE razor apart from its size is the proprietary blades it uses, it's not like the missus can just grab one of my blades when she runs out and needs some new ones.
I highly recommend fellow wet shavers who own and frequently rotate between their many razors, pre-shave oils, soaps, creams, etc., who are trying out different blades/sample packs to find the right fit is to get started charting their shaves. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It should at least note the blade and razor used (along with any other variables deemed important) and, of course, the results….BBS, DFS, etc. In a short period of time the chart or spreadsheet will make it clear which blade or blades pairs best for every razor in the den (without relying on memory). Works like a charm.
After trying a couple different blades and heads out, I find that a more mild head with a sharper blade works well for me. Try different combos, you’ll never know what works until you do!
The two areas of main focus to put money into should be: razor blade and after shave. There are some razors objectively better than others, but mostly it will come down to what type of blades it can accept. The last one is after shave. I lump alum, rub/balm/lotion and septic stichk into this. Find a combo that works well based on your skin and hair coarse type.
Hello dear Matt. I have a Suggestion about a brand. (Of course, months ago I left you a comment with some RU-vid links, but apparently, they did vanish! I did spend quite a time finding and prioritising them for you, but ...) Anyway. It is an ITALIAN BOUTIQUE BRAND by the name of ANTICA BARBIERIA COLLA [EST. 1904] which is a very FAMOUS BARBERSHOP in MILAN and one of the MILAN'S LANDMARKS, that makes High-End Shaving and Hair Care Products as well. If you don't know of them or have never heard of them or even know them by their name, in that case, you must watch these very useful and interesting videos of them anyway, and please listen to the Owner FRANCO BBOMPIERI's (Now RIP) Ideas about Shaving and Barbering. Thank you a lot, and have a Pleasant and Peaceful Day. . . . Sample pack is how I started out! As I got more comfortable with my new razor and better at lathering and finding 1 soap and a gel both of which I really liked, I finally zeroed in on Persona Platinum as my go to. I recently tried a few other blades including Persona Red because I was curious. The Red gave me a super close shave in 1 pass! I was amazed. My point I guess is that it never hurts to explore.
I wonder if anyone has ever wanted "further adieu"? I think the next time someone says "without further adieu", I gonna say, hold on, I need more adieu!
The sample packs from Razor Emporium are awesome. I used Gillette 7 Yellow for years. After I got more experience with a double edge razor, I realized I was getting a decent shave with them but usually had to do more passes than I would prefer. After watching some of Razor Emporium's videos on sample packs I decided to try a few. After trying many different types of blades, I settled on Kai. They provide me with a much better shave than the blades I was using previously.
Thanks for that Matt. Yours are still the best out there but gotta tell ya after seeing video 6 I howled with laughter. BTW, just getting over some scrotal surgery so it was double funny 😂🇨🇦🥊
I mentioned here once before; that I shaved my face with the DE Safety Razor without the Safety Guard (the Base Plate) for years, and the main difference is that this kind of shave is more like when you shave with a Cutthroat (Straight) Razor or at least when you shave with a Shavette (You for yourself in your home, or your Barber for you in the Barbershop), which means it would be much closer and smoother, and if you have a Good/Sharp Razor Balede, you can almost shave any amount of hair and at the end it would be fantastic Shave, especially if you have a Good/Standard Razor too. But as I mentioned before it is not for everyone because it is a more dangerous and delicate method and needs more experience and practice (at least with the DE Safety Razors) and of course more fearlessness. So if someone has a good amount of experience and practice with the DE Safety Razors (and better than that with the Shavettes or Cutthroat Razors) and likes the BLADE FEEL, and of course, he can get over his fear of cutting himself he can at least try this method of shaving once to see the differences and the results for himself. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PS: I know this method has been in practice (for some people, not for the majority and mostly before this new age of cartridge lovers) in countries like my homeland IRAN and overall this side of the Mediterranean Sea like Turkey, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, Macedonia and even Greece for generations.
That was amazing!!!!!😂😂😂😂 I have to say that if you have a light beard DO NOT DIG. Light beard does not mean hard scaly dragon skin 😂😂😂 that guy was definitely a circus performer
