I have excess material from a Kerdi-Shower-LT/-LTS 38 in. x 76 in. Perimeter Linear Drain Shower Tray, enough to cut FOUR (4) 76" long, 4" wide strips from the unused material. After seeing your video, I thought it might be reasonable to take those four strips and, after ROTATING two of them end -to-end, stack them alternately and join them w Kerdi-fix to produce a SOLID curb which would be dimensionally symmetrical. Given that the taper of the tray is from 1.625" to 0.875", after rotation of two and stacking, this would yield a LEVEL curb 5" high and 4" wide (1.625 x 2 + 0.875 x 2 = 5). An alternative would be to use only TWO strips, which would yield a curb only 2.5" high, which (after taking into acount the thinset, might offer sufficient elevation from the top of the LINEAR drain. A Schluter edging trim w CHANNEL for GLASS support (Deco-SG Satin Anodized Aluminum 0.375 in. x 98.5 in. Metal Tile Edging Trim) will be placed on the curb to support a 45" long 3/8" thickness shower wall. There will be NO penetration of the constructed curb. The glass wall will be anchored vertically by another Schluter edging trim 80" long (Deco-SG Satin Anodized Aluminum 0.5 in. x 98.5 in. Metal Tile Edging Trim). Any problems from Schluter's perspective for such an approach? Many thanks.

I tried to discuss my potential project with the support team. The member i spoke would not provide me a clear answer on what i needed to do in terms of water proofing the dry pack
I can't find the measurements of these niches anywhere. For a 12"x20" niche, where are those measurements taking? The inside of the niche? The outside of the nice box? The outside of the flange? I can't believe this info isn't anywhere on the product description page.
Hi there! The 12''x20'' measurement is the inside of the niche. The niche measures 16''x24'' and 4'' deep including the thickness of the boards and the flange. You can find the CAD drawing in the download section of the product. Hope that helps!
9:48 The video here looks like he's butting the kerdi band to the corners, but it's deceiving. Earlier, at 9:11 it shows that the corners go out another 2 inches from where the inside corner meets on the bottom surface. (this is the most "replayed" part of the video, so it seems many people have this impression/question)
Hello! At 9:11 he installs the KERDI inside corner, but the rest of the wall/floor junction needs to be sealed with KERDI-BAND. At 9:48 he is showing that you can install the KERDI-BAND 2'' away from the corner to avoid a build-up in this area and still achieve the 2'' overlap with the KERDI-BAND and the inside corner piece. Hope this helps!
Hi there, this is our No-Access installation ... the principle is the same, it shows how the drain goes in before the drain. Hope this helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u-ZILYISeX8.htmlsi=RvKcU6a8blU9LUlI
For shortening the bench, after cutting off the end of the bench with a vertical support, the end is now left with no support. Seems like that end would be a weak spot. Shouldn't you salvage the end foam and glue it back into the new end?
There is no need to add a support to the end of the bench, as the spacing of the other supports is tight enough and it will be attached to the wall and waterproofed. However, you are welcome to move a support to the end if you prefer!

What Schluter profile would i need if i want to make a transition between two of the exact same (glue down) LVP flooring for the purpose of, for example, change the direction of the planks into another room, or along the wall? Preferably I would like for the Schluter profile to be imbedded between the LVP rather than lay on top. Is there such a product?

Hi there! KERDI-BOARD isn't designed to have larger surfaces painted, so we would recommend tiling over it. If paint is desired in that area, drywall would be the recommended substrate.
Yes, you can use KERDI-FIX to waterproof between the tub and the bathroom floor in conjunction with DITRA and KERDI-BAND. You can check out those details in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WCySxf-fx7o.htmlsi=6g8k-4dx6S8wy4sa Thanks!
This was utterly useless... and from the Manufacturer no less. You showed the part of the process that has NOTHING to do with Ditra. That is how you do any tile repair over any substrate You did not show anything about removing the thinset from the Ditra OR removing the Ditra and replacing it if necessary. Completely disingenuous video. Brutal.
Yes, DITRA is 100% waterproof, so watering plants over it won't be an issue. You can waterproof any seams with KERDI-BAND to make the floor completely waterproof. The KERDI-DRAIN-F is a great option for a floor drain in that area as well. Hope this helps!
I am looing to have a heated main bathroom floor and shower floor. Can the DITRA heat mat support the channel and the glass, or do I need to build this up with wood (and then seal this with a kerdi strip)under the channel to assure there is support there (as well as water proofing)? Thanks!
Hi David, we'd need to have a bit of a more detailed conversation with you in order to support you with the right info. Would you mind giving our Product Support team a call to chat? 888-472-4588 (US) or 800-667-8746 (Canada). Thanks!
I have one of these and it is made out of foam..when it is laid down how does the foam not break to a persons weight ...and the foam curb looks like if some put any type of weight on it would break it I can only imaging a kid stepping on the curb
How much room is required for the drain to stick down below the floor? What about roughed-in pipes sticking out of a concrete floor? How high should the raised shower pan be?

Hello. Could you give the references of the 2 items you use around the sink plz ? I browsed into your catalog but didn't find exactly the two items shown at : 1:12. Thx for your help.
Hi! We used the Rondec profile with the sink corners. Here is the link to the product page for more details: www.schluter.com/schluter-us/en_US/Profiles/For-Walls/Edging-%26-Outside-Wall-Corners/Schluter%C2%AE-RONDEC/p/RONDEC?facets=false
Hi there. You can put the thermostat into manual mode and then lower the target temperature to something where it wouldn't heat (50 degrees for example). To put the thermostat in manual mode, you would press the "MODE" button until MAN is visible on the bottom left hand side of the display. When ready to resume your schedule, you would press the "MODE" button until AUTO is visible on the bottom left hand side of the display. You can also turn the power off at the breaker while it's not in use. Hope that helps!
Question: …..Can I install Ditra after leveling my concrete floor with leveling compound? Some well known RU-vidrs have warned against it because installing it over leveling compound will void the warranty.
Good question! Yes, that is totally fine. Our Handbook instructs that any levelling of the subfloor must be done prior to installing DITRA and DITRA-XL. Levelling compound is a perfectly acceptable option, as long as installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

One thing not mentioned is, when using this system you cant use small mosaic tile on the pan, they need to be a certain size or the weight distribution from stepping on it will crush the foam.

"We will be using unmodified thinset morter throughout this video" then at the 5:55 mark, the ditra heat is applied to plywood. Is this acceptable to use unmodified thinset morter to attach ditra membrane to plywood?
Hi there! This particular video says at the 2:01 mark that "We will be using Schluter-ALL-SET throughout this demonstration." You don't have to use ALL-SET for this entire installation, however. Everything in the shower can also be installed using unmodified thin-set mortar, including the tray. To install the DITRA or DITRA-HEAT membrane over plywood, you can use our ALL-SET or any other modified thin set. Hope that helps!

Hi Sarah! You will need to install KERDI-BAND over every washer and screw. You will have to use the KERDI-BAND as well to seal the seams between two boards and in the wall corners. You spent a majority of the time showing how to butter tiles and almost nothing on the actual profiles. Then, you do a profile on the top of that tile and the end sticks out! This is a completely useless video...
Hi there! I see what you mean. In this video, we are only dry-fitting the profiles so the video is not too long. The Rondec corner seems to be sticking out, but in reality, another Rondec profile would be installed vertically on the tile edge. Hope that helps!
I’m using All Set on top of cement board. It’s 70 degrees inside and an 80 degree, wet rainy day outside. I wet sponged the cement board. I mixed 8 quarts of water with a 50lb bag of All Set. I mixed thoroughly with a mixing paddle and a drill for 5 minutes. The All Set is so loose it’s slopping absolutely everywhere. By the time I spread 1/8” over a 39” x 96” area and then apply more with a 1/8”x1/8” trowel, it’s trying to set up on me. To the extent I only applied 2/4 96” pieces to ensure binding before I use the rest of the membrane. Is this normal? If I add any more water, it won’t stay on a trowel at all. If I use less water, I’m afraid it’ll set up too much to properly bond to the membrane. Are there any tricks to keep it from setting up so fast?
Our thin-sets do have a new water ratio... any packages that have this new ratio, have new instructions directly on the bag with water ratios. Here is the link: resources.schluter.com/media/thinset/index.html More or less water may be required to reach a personal comfort with the consistency. You can adjust your water amounts and mix less per batch to get it where it needs to be. However, we wouldn't be concerned with the performance of the bond, as long as you can get full coverage with whatever consistency you're comfortable with. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Product Support team if you have any questions. 888-472-4588
