"When I open my eyes I must sigh, for what I see is contrary to religion, and I must despise the world which does not know that music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy." -- Ludwig van Beethoven
Thanks so much, Wain. By far my favorite band that almost no one has heard of. I think I’ve done one or two of their songs, check out my videos. Cheers!
I heard someone once when they sang this song where it says, "you come home straight, and you come home curly," was changed to "you come home straight, and you come home surly." I like the word surly because it means..... menacing or threatening in appearance: irritably sullen and churlish in mood or manner: crabbed. I think this word fits much better than curly. A person can be normally surly, but how are they curly?
Hey,@@georgeforyan113. I think that’s part of the genius of John Prine. ‘Surly’ is too easy. ‘Curly’ is creative, and also appropriate, in a bunch of different ways. Thanks for listening!
@@kennytheworm Genius or not, John Prine was a great songwriter, but to take the words, "Come home straight or of curly," Yeh, I can see the straight part, but the only thing curly I know of is my hair
Well, Sinatra didn’t really ’Get a Kick’ out of her. And The Beatles didn’t really do ANYthing ’Eight Days a Week’, ya know? Literal has no business in music. It’s poetry. And, The Answer, My Friend, is not REALLY Blowing in the Wind.
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me when folks enjoy these. BIG fun to do this stuff. If only I could quit my stupid job, and do this instead, heh.
My late cousin was familiar with all the top pedal steel players and knew 'Brumley' well along with others in that business in Nashville. He was Bryan Adams of east TN.
Very nice and well done. It sounds great. All of your hard work that went into this is certainly recognized and appreciated by us. We're ready for your next one! Lydia & Rick
