I live in a part of the San Francisco Bay Area that is predominantly Asian, and has been for decades. There are entire strip malls around here with signs only written in Mandarin. During the pandemic, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw signs go up in front of houses that said "#STOPASIANHATE". Asian hate? Where? By who? Against who? Everyone _is_ Asian here. There _is_ no Asian hate, at least where I am. Oh, and this city is a truly boring and uneventful South Bay suburb that is incredibly chill and low-key. So see this type of fired-up rhetoric around here was extra hilarious.

I'm glad that you're such a great example of the fruits of dedication and hard work and that despite inequalities in starting point one can in fact have an excellent quality of life. Many now see inequality as a glitch in the system to be eradicated whereas I see it as a feature, an inherent and therefore permanent aspect of life. I prefer the worldview that we make the best with whatever cards we've been dealt without worrying about everyone else's cards.
