100% sure she’s an American dingo. Those elf ears give her away. She is identical to mine. The only thing that makes me doubtful is how well she obeys commands 🤣🤣🤣 (Ad/Ch owners know what I mean)!
There is no such thing as an American dingo, breeders just stole the name 'dingo' as it does slightly resemble the real Dingo, the Australian Dingo, which isn't an actual dog. Go here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uq2agRt4dKA.html&ab_channel=TheDingoChannel
Australian Dingo Characteristics: Head is bigger than muzzle, and Has a big body. A little slim tho. American Dingo Characteristics: Very slim, Buff like the Australian Dingo, Head is very big. Result: Pretty much Identical.
I have a dog who an absolute double for him. Barks at visitors, but quick to come round , great with other dogs but no monkey business!. I found her at a rescue centre in Liverpool(UK). If only dogs could talk?.
I just lost my Carolina Dingo at 18 years of age. Did any of you have a dog that old ? He was a loyal loving dog who was also a great watchdog. I miss him greatly
I have one adopted from Pawleys Island South Carolina.......same dog. You have one. They are awesome aren't they. Great all around canine...smarter than the usual purebred canines...also more versatile. You can teach them endlessly...teach not train if you follow me.
Ive had my dog for 12 years and just discovered he is an American Dingo. Always been told he was a "Sheppard Chow Mix". I know this is an old video but great looking dog! Look like my dogs twin! 🐶
I have one. Hes my favorite. Always had shepards.or huskys. I bought him off craigslist. He was supposed to be a shepard husky.the vet says canaan dingo. He surely wasnt bred by mistake. The lady rescued him and his brother. I got him for 90$ these dogs are all i will ever have..and i just bought a ranch. He hated the city. He bit a few people. After being out here hes nice and calm all the time. He just doesnt like strangers.
Turning out to be my new favorite breed...absolutely the most loyal, while independent dog I've ever owned...uncivilized at first but still man's true first best friend
Well I found this video almost ten years after it was posted but I'm glad I landed here any way. I had female dog that looked identical to the one in this video. When I adopted her she was 6 weeks old and the shelter thought she was a Golden Lab Mix. Boy were they wrong. Then someone told me she must be Basenji. She had similar traits, looked a lot like a Basenji so I figured she was Basenji mixed with something else. Then about six years later I came across the Thai Ridgeback breed and it looked like I had been wrong again. She was probably a Thai Ridgeback possibly mixed with Basenji. Now, a year after her passing at fifteen and a half I now believe she was a Carolina. Doesn't matter much what breed she was. I have had many dogs but this was the one I'll always remember as the favorite.
She is most definately a CD/AD They Love toys my Logan had about 13 through the years and he treated them like they were his babie's his fav was a plush yellow duck. he used to line them up in the order of importance to him they were from family members and its like the way he cared about a person he would care about that toy they gave him :) He was special but then ALL CD/AD ARE! I have a little boy comming in sept and I can't wait.
Beautiful dog I Love the Southern Dingo, I got my boy Logan in a shelter he was 6 months old and the Best dog I have ever had he Loved cats, was a little shy but was good around kid's a bit weary of strangers but was still good with them. All around he was a gentle boy and so very smart. I lost him in april from a malignant anal tumor due to a clogged anal gland they gave hin at most week's last oct. but with liver cleanse, probiotics and vitamins cbd oil he was with us for months instead of weeks.
no need to if he meets the CD/AD criteria he is one. They have no smell, hypoallergenic, very little shedding if any. markings are very distinct and they have a fishook tail.
our carolina dog acts just like yours its so funny and weird how these dogs got to michigan. we are up in saginaw and ours is the red/ginger colored verity you should hear her when they test the tornado sirens or emergency vehicles go by.
As the years go by, the words to this song bear more and more meaning for me. Sadly, also, there are less and less people to sing it with, and slowly its message is coming true. The singing is beautiful and from the heart. Thank you Ken for sharing it.
In the July 15, 2013 issue of the New York Times in the Science section there's an article entitled "DNA Backs Lore on Pre-Columbian Dogs", written by Jack Hitt. It's about Carolina dogs. Very interesting piece.
This really brings back memories from the 50s. Some polka radio show in Western Mass played this often, but can't recall the show. It is now haunting me trying to remember the exact show as there were a number of Polka shows back then on the radio every weekend. Thanks for this great post.
My dog looks just like this. Is it possible for a dog to look just like this dog and be something else? I am trying to figure out how to handle the digging (she just is determined to turn the whole backyard into a mud pit).
These are not Basenjis! Its a distinct breed. They are a product of free-ranging dog populations in the american south. Their resemblance is coincendtal to dingos and other wild dogs because of covergant evolution. They bond to human owners very quick and are wonderful family dogs.
Wow! That looks and sounds just like my dog. Go to my page and you will see videos I uploaded of him. They look exactly alike. I just recently heard about Carolina dogs from someone at the dog park. I was told at the Human Society he was a sheprador, the vet thought he was a basenji/retriever mix... but after seeing videos, pictures of Carolina Dogs I am convinced that is what he is.
you can order them online (800+), but as most of us do-find them at shelters, There is a shelter her in Southern Colorado that has alot of them. I wish I could take everyone of them, But my neighbors would probably not be amused with that!
