Hello! Just curious for when I need to do class selection... how many points did you bid for the korean wave, language, and pop culture class you got into??
Hi i have a question. Does it cost to get quarantined in the Yonsei universities dorm? If it did cost how much have you paid? I have read this (All other foreign short-term travellers must quarantine at a government-designated facility for 14 days. Individuals are required to pay a daily charge of 120,000KRW while in government quarantine facilities)
Yes, it does cost to get quarantined at Yonsei dorms! I paid about 3,000,000KRW, but this was including the payment for your dorm housing over the entire semester. You are quarantined in a dorm for 2 weeks and then afterward you continue to live in that dorm for the rest of the semester.
what you've read is for the short-term visa holders. exchange students who stay for a semester like this have to apply for a long-term stay visa (type D) or something. and thus you don't have to stay in gov appointed facilities (which often times are hotels, which ofc cost more) but in another registered place of your choice, such as Yonsei dorm.
@@bb.2742 Ty for giving more info. Yeah i also made some research about that. Long-term visa holders(more than 3months) are able to stay in a place such as Airbnb. Hope that it will cost less :)
Hi! I'm planning on going to Yonsei and I was wondering should I bring a lot of korean currency with me, create a bank account in Korea or just exchange my money once I get here?
You could do any of these options, but also many places take credit card so you don't need too much korean cash! I use most of my korean cash for the subway or street food. I brought korean currency with me, but I have friends who set up a korean bank account here and it was super easy. Exchange is another option but I don't think it's a common thing to do among students, since you need to find exchange places with good rates.
Hi! I’m planning on studying abroad during next year’s Spring semester^^ I have a question regarding the quarantine process. Do students studying abroad for a semester only have to quarantine in government facilities or can they quarantine in the Yonsei dorms? I’m curious as to how the quarantine requirement differs between people traveling to study abroad and people traveling to just visit South Korea. Thank you!
I was able to quarantine at the dorms in Yonsei! They give you the option to quarantine at the dorms or at a government facility. Yonsei will send out an email with information regarding quarantine in the dorms. I believe spots are limited so I tried to get onto the portal when it immediately opened, but if you miss the time then I think you can contact Yonsei and they will try to accommodate you anyways. You will get a certificate that shows you are doing quarantine at Yonsei to show airport officials. Hope this helped and hope everything works out for your study abroad next spring semester!
