@@fpvdogfight Vern flys planes. He's got it all mounted in but it's kind of glitchy. He's the only one in his club who's attempting it so he won't be able to fly formation with anybody but me. LOL in a quad flying formation with a plane it's pretty easy at least for me. I've told him about your site often enough that he should look you up to get some of those glitches out
What video transmitter and camera do you use? This looks like a lot of fun! I have flown some FPV but not trying to do formation flying. If you were trying to get B+ level equipment - great but not the most expensive - what would you pick. I assume you require an 8 channel RC receiver
I use DJI Goggles 2 with O3 Air Unit (includes camera). These are being discounted already since the next gen products are already out (Goggles 3 etc). Check out Walksnail Digital Goggles and VTX’s not as expensive as DJI but pretty good. Better than DJI if you use flight controllers - OSD friendly.
Very nice! When will the futaba cables be back in stock for purchase? I bought the BAG and the the Tally Ho a couple months ago but still waiting for the cable to be back in stock
rc fpv formation flight look so easy in he movie (the pilots so professional), its so hard in real life, i have also t28 1.2 hope to make him more powerfull and fpv, thanks for the sharing
Thank you Ilan. Your PC-21 videos are top notch, too! Have you watched these formation brief videos? They help a lot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ys6PbbxEiKk.html
I watched every possible video in order to learn and improve, and still, the reality is more difficult And when I see you perform a coordinated turn together, I appreciate the professionalism @@fpvdogfight
@@ilanlachish8600 Bigger planes make it easier, both for seeing and reaction time (bigger planes take longer to move). I have grown to like the 2m T-28's. They make formation training much easier.
Could you make a video of how to connect the FPV to the receiver and also links to buy the equipment's, I know is too much to ask, but I need a head start to this, I am old guy., Thanks for your time, nice videos!!
Glad you are inspired to fly from the cockpit. Please read this page to get a head start: fpvdogfight.com/blogs/news Click on diagram for details. The learning curve is not very steep. You already know how to fly planes, so the muscle memory is there, just adapting to new perspective. Pick a decent sized plane (5ft span) that you are already familiar with to start. Put FPV equipment on it. Record a flight while you fly LOS smoothly, emphasize on stabilized approaches and landings. Then review the FPV footage to get used to what it looks like from the cockpit FPV. Then go fly FPV and have a spotter call out altitude on first few landings. Then you are good to go!
Thank you very much for your video. I've got a Futaba T8j but I'm strugling with the connection wire: you know the wiring between the special futaba connector on the training port and the 3,5 mm mono audio jack?
You are using a simulator wire? That won’t work. The Futuba side is connected to PPMout pin. It needs to be resoldered to connect to PPMin pin. See this page: headtracker.gitbook.io/head-tracker/getting-started/wiring/option-2-wired/pulse-position-modulation-ppm/trainer-ports
@fpvdogfight nice to get in touch with you and thank you for the prompt feedback. I'm using a wire with was provided with the analog skyzone googles were it worked fine. Now I've built an head tracker with Arduino (saw the project on fpv painless 360) which has an output with a 3,5 mm pinjack such as the one you've got in your video. So I'm building an adapter from the 3,5mm to skyzone type plug in order to use the same old wire for the futaba. BTW I find the page you sent me very interesting and it could help me solving. I'll check all my soldering an I'll you know. Thank you again
I am wondering if you have several FPV air units in each aircraft or have you figured a way to easily remove it and place into another aircraft? All your videos with the different aircraft look like you are having a blast!!!
I am having a blast on each flight. I do test different air units, and move some air units from plane to plane. Each has their advantages and disadvantages. It’s the people that we fly with that make it fun🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s hard to judge distance with lead plane in the cockpit, given the wide angle lens on FPV camera. It’s good to debrief with outside perspective🙂
