How are you controlling the AW4 with the VVTi 1uz? Only the a650e from the factory behind that one. I assume you have full automatic driveability since you've gone about the drive by cable setup.
@shakynz1
@shakynz1 8 месяцев назад
The S1 Delica trans has it's own control module. I bought an earlier Toyota 1UZ A30/41 trans and used the bell housing , input shaft, pump and torque converter from that into the delica trans. I'm using the original toyota ecu which has been tricked into being manual and keeps the VVTi with the Mitsi trans control module still running he trans. It also needed a little box I got from the car tune company to up the voltage on the 1UZ TPS so it would shift down the gears properly when you step on the gas. Honestly, if I was doing it all again I'd probably go for an after market ECU that can run the engine and trans. Car Tune Company did all the wiring for me. Check him out on RU-vid and contact him if you need help. Great guy and incredibly knowledgeable about the 1UZ conversions.

Fascinating, thank you for the info. I did not know this. My 1985 A340H behind my 22re actually has a separate TCU as well. I might try to see if I can re-use it, but it was an early version of the a340 and is incredibly simple compared to some of the later 4,5 solenoid versions that are beefed up.@@shakynz1

This was a diesel before conversion? Would be better to start with a V6? Did you change diff ratios to get better highway cruising RPM?
@shakynz1
@shakynz1 3 года назад
Yes, it was a diesel. The S1 Diesel has the right transmission for the conversion. Aisin Warner A30-40. Toyota used a Aisin Warner A30-41 behind their early V8's so everything you need from the Toyota(Bell housing, input shaft, pump and torque converter) bolts on to the Mitsi trans without needing bell housing adaptors or transfer case adapters. Because I've got 33" tires I changed to 5285 ratio from a Pajero which included a Pajero Locker in the rear.
@darrellbarry3402
@darrellbarry3402 3 года назад
@@shakynz1 thanks for the reply, so an S2 would work as well? Saw your thread on Delica Club.
@shakynz1
@shakynz1 3 года назад
I believe it was only the S1 transmission that worked with the conversion. If I was doing a S2 I'd look at doing a 1UZ vvti conversion and keeping the 6 speed trans from the toyota and using a transfer case adapter. Then you can use the Toyota ECU and loom which would control engine and trans. And using 1st and 2nd in low ratio with the 6 speed would mean it'd really crawl along.
