Understanding that you must be stopped and giving your opponent a silver bullet card XD Or is it reverse psychology cuz most of the time leylines are a dead card in hand for commander
Get jobs. Buy good cards. Stop being envious of everyone who can afford to play good cards. Don't change the game I play because you can't or don't want to play it.
It sounds like you and I have different ideas of what the game can be and that's fine, but that means we should play in different pods. I argue in the video that you should be able to do just that, by the way, and that the cards should retain some of their value.
I've played with the card since release and, admittedly, it's played a lot better than I thought. If I wrote this one today, I'd do the bit differently.
When you talk about separating the ban lists for competitive and casual, I was hoping you would elaborate on if they could possibly be separated as 2 different formats, not just different ban lists. Do you think that would be a good idea and do you have any ideas for any actual rule differences if they made two different formats out of commander?
Honestly, I think the ban list is as far as the separation should go. I think keeping the format otherwise functionally the same is a good idea to maintain the cohesion that so many folks enjoy. "Commander but high power" is very intriguing and I'd hate to lose that. We already have Canlander and Oathbreaker -- new formats are great, but they're just that: new and different formats.
"gonna be rich" not with the price of them and wanting a million lmao jk funny video Also, if you wanna build around SAH, use Railway Brawler!! He's a 5/5 green Rhino with trample AND he adds X +1/+1 counters to every creature when it enters where X is that creatures health. He normally costs 3 colorless and 2 forest but he also has a plot cost for 3 colorless and 1 forest. My best suggestion, mill yourself however you want until your slimes are at least a 4/4. Easily attainable and doesn't take long. THEN! plot your Brawler ASAP. Following turn, if you can, try to mill again, put your Brawler out for free, and then cast a slime. That 4/4 is instantly an 8/8. I'd also recommend a few hexproof spells to counter anything killing your Brawler. Or just run with 4 of them lol. But late game, you milled yourself to an 11/11 slime, Brawler makes it a22/22, easy win. Even better if your opponent mills for you. Hopefully this tip helps!
Being far removed from all the investment into Paper Magic, these bans seemed inevitable to me. I think the player base is just angry about the way this was handled. Immediate bans with no prior intimation is something that can have far-reaching consequences. And with the way the secondary card market for Magic works, I'm sure a lot of people would be justifiably pissed. Add to it the fact that the decision came from WotC and not the rules committee, and players sense some ulterior motive behind this move. I understand the frustration but the way people threatened the safety of the RC members is just horrible. Still, thanks for sharing your views on this Ham. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
I agree with the bans, as someone who had one Dockside and none of the others. Dockside had no synergy within my Lovisa Coldeyes deck, it was just there for power, so in a weird way it felt good to swap it back out for the way weaker but more fitting Kargan Intimidator. I crafted that deck because I wanted an army of barbarians, berserkers and warriors, not pirates! So, similar feelings to yours about that card, and I won't miss seeing the others (especially Nadu!) I'm less happy with how the bans were *handled* , but I don't think that's entirely the RC's fault. WotC reprinting Lotus and Dockside recently made them feel deceptively safe, and Crypt has been around and tolerated for so long that it felt untouchable to me (and many others I'm sure), like an extra Sol Ring for higher power levels. That said, the whole thing about the Commander Advisory Group being left in the dark feels weird to me. The financial loss wasn't an issue for me personally, as I had no plans to sell my one banned card anytime soon, but I can fully appreciate how much this shook other people and businesses. But, absolutely none of this excuses the abuse that both the RC and CAG got, that's ridiculous. It's possible to give negative feedback without resorting to threats, those never lead anywhere positive for anyone. I look forward to your video about the RC handing things over to WotC... I'm worried about what it means for future 'designed for Commander' cards and bans, but only time will tell.
It sounds like you and I are on almost the exact same page here, and I can definitely appreciate disliking how the announcement was handled. It seemed odd to not have even a hint of advanced notice for even the CAG members.
The card’s great - mechanically. Traditional 80s style aliens in mtg canon is total BS though. Yet another flavor fail in a long chain of flavor fails. Wotc is creatively bankrupt, for the most part.
Can you illustrate why it fails flavor-wise. I really think the horror themes in Duskmourn really get misinterpreted as needing to be pieces that define the monsters and adversary in the world and the grand evil opposing faction. The horror more-so is showcasing 80s horror tropes and themes in a more light hearted sense. The flavor in Unidentified Hovership is the same horror portrayed in 80s horror movies. The fear of being taken away in the first effect. Plus the persistent cosmic dread made known in its second effect. Duskmourn does have it flavors fails like the house itself but overall it’s pretty fun flavor wise
Question, what if i use last march of the ents and let’s say i draw 10 cards. Then i put a creature that trigger an etb and let me draw a card. Let’s say i draw a creature, can i put on the battlefield this last creature ?
My Commander decks are all on Moxfield, and my Arena decks are on Untapped.gg: mtga.untapped.gg/profile/b030a996-4310-48bd-9157-2a424d91300e/IWH5EFUQANGOVJW36YSSXCXOZI
So good in limited. Reminds me of Ravenous Chupecabra in limited. Nobody cared until they saw it in play at pre-release and all the sudden it becomes an early pick in draft
Reminds me of 'Back for More', with the modal kill instead of the fight for one less and no green restriction. Great for something like an atraxxa deck where you want atraxxa to die after her etb fills your hand, then hold up mana and reanimate her to block, draw on your opponents turn and then swing in for lethal with her lifesteal keeping you alive. If I recall correctly instants were one of the less synergistic types in the deck in the past.
Actually looks like it could be nice in a Satoru commander deck. Ninjutsu it in for a guaranteed hit unless they cast some kind of removal, could be nice
Great deck! Question, where can i find decklist of your simic standard that eon against malones white deck? Thanks and have a great day fellow mtg fan😁
Years ago I got so pissed off at people harassing me so much that I tore up a card I got in a bunch of random cards and it was a card that had a cost of 7 and it had the most fucked up effect. It stated clearly remove half your opponent's deck and graveyard from play for the rest of the tournament. I think it got banned. Not 100% but pretty sure. 3 would ruin any opponent. Focus your deck on that and you would ruin your opponent for life.
