What setting are you using for instrument adjustments, First I thought you were in Locked mode because it showed the condition of your settings example off or on. You don't get this information in Legacy mode. Then I noticed when you made adjustments You were getting the curved arrow which you get only in Legacy mode. When I use Legacy mode. I don't know if the Nav button is on or off. Am I missing something?
Great video, thanks, I have a query - the Cessna Citation Longitude features three rotary knobs (rotaries) underneath the central Garmin Touchscreen Controllers (GTCs) which are essential for various flight operations. As of the latest updates, there isn't direct keyboard shortcut functionality specifically for the rotary knobs on the GTCs.
You know, your success on youtube would probably be alot better if you made sure that the audio is good. At full blast on my laptop I have a roaring engine going and can still barely hear your light whisper. Audio is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A TUTORIAL!
The Nav1 audio should beep when you turn it on and get within range of the N1 frequency. If it does not it might be a glitch in the software which MSFS will get around to fixing on updates.
Yes, it does send out the morse code signal when in range of the ILS frequency coming from the airport runway. You have to turn on DME1 to pick up the signal. You can find it by pressing Ctrl and 6 on keyboard to get the screen to the left of pilot's seat. Select Audio Radios and scroll down to find DME1 and turn it on. You will then receive the signal when you are in range.

I’ve only been playing MSFS for a few months now and I have become highly addicted to it. I will most likely never become a pilot or own a private jet however this flight sim is the next best thing. I’ve been slowly learning the instruments through trial and error and have stumbled my way to decently control the CJ4. Your tutorial was a great help and I’m excited to implement some of your techniques. Keep Posting so I can keep dreaming. Thank you captain for a wonderful flight.
So basically, setting an altitude number in the autopilot is meaningless - you just have to use the v-speed up or down and then manually tell it to hold at whatever altitude you want to hold at, which pays no attention to the number in the altitude setting.
This could just be a bug that needs to be fixed. It really should hold the set altitude once it reaches the setting if the autopilot is on. Maybe the V-speed is not shutting off like it should when the altitude is reached.
I suggest in future when you're making tutorials and narrating the tutorial, turn down the gameplay audio, the sound of the aircraft, it's quite difficult trying to hear you whilst keeping the audio at a reasonable level as to not blow my ear drums out, lol, but yeah, just my opinion, thanks for the tutorial all the same
Look at the Heading Indicator dial on the cockpit dashboard (aircraft image) on either side of the Heading Indicator there are two dials on the right side is the heading bug dial. Set that dial to the heading you want. The head bug will move on the heading indicator as you turn the dial. When you have the autopilot turned on you turn on the heading mode button and it will follow the heading you have set using the heading bug dial.
@@uischirock You set the heading mode on using the button on the autopilot panel. Then on the instrument panel in front of the yoke you see a heading indicator (it has an aircraft image on it) This is where you set your compass heading and heading bug using the small round dials below and on either side. The autopilot when turned on will follow the heading bug setting if you turn on heading mode button.
1rst: how to get the retrofit gps mod : because I searched this on youtube and some youtubers gave a link to the duckworks dc3 but it doesnt have any GPS or autopilot right? And second plz there is no heading bug so how can I change the heading bug like even my keybinds dont work it doesnt want to increase the heading with the display instrument at the top left corner of the screen so plz how?
Go to Marketplace in MSFS. Search under aircraft for DC3 Enhanced or DC3 Retrofit. If it is there try to download. If it is not there then maybe it is no longer available as a free download. Not sure why heading bug is not working.
On some of the aircraft in MSFS they give a complete set of checklists from preflight to shutdown. On other aircraft they just give three or four checklists up to starting the engine and that is all they provide. You can google the aircraft for checklists to get a complete set of checklists for the aircraft you are flying.
I loved this explanation and caught a few Canadian accent features in your narration! Aboot..... for example... It was an awesome flight and I just can't believe technology can make flight in such terrible conditions possible. It's a very impressive human feat of engineering. Thanks again for all the great information... especially the link to airport data. You've done an amazing job of demystifying the process... Jerry from Fort Worth Tx. I subscribed yesterday.
My King Air didn't have the FMS option you discussed... I have just GPS, VOR1 and 2... It totally threw out my ability to follow your guidance. Any ideas why I don't have the FMS option? Thanks, Jerry
Oooops! At least you can tell I'm paying attention to the video BUT NOT the heading labels! You state to use GPS in this version! But, I also didn't find the screen where you entered in radio detail. Any thoughts?
You need to get split screen on the Primary Flight Display then Flight Plan then Nav and you will be able to check the Nav frequency or enter and hit Transfer to enter your actiive frequency. @@effectspedals
Thank you so much for this very informative instructional video! You clarified some important concepts and I appreciated your thoroughness. I guess they updated the Beechcraft because I do have the mouse over notifications of button status. So, it is definitely helpful. I have saved this video for reference purposes. I live in Fort Worth Tx and I have to say, Halifax and Nova Scotia are quite beautiful. I grew up in St. Catherines Ontario, so I do miss the Canadian beauty and charm. Best wishes and thank you again! Subscribed.
Thanks for putting together this excellent youtube. Your pacing was excellent for someone on the learning curve. The g1000 is a complex system, and although I've picked up picked up dribs and drabs from other sources, this was the first video I've found that let me stitch all the pieces together. I had not realized how powerful Little NavMap could be for flight planning and following the course in 'real time.' Watched it from end-to-end, and will fly the route tomorrow!
Great video! I just got back into MSFS and flew the Citation 3 times, and I love it. Next time, I will follow this in IFR conditions and either get the rock band to their next city, or become one of those stories people discuss for decades.
Great video, well explained. I have MSFS primarily to fly the classic DC-3 (and DC-6) I don't like the "push button and fly planes" that much and besides that, they don't have have that awesome piston sound - but hey, everyone has their own preference ;) But after a while, especially on the long hauls and be able to do some site seeing, it comes in pretty handy to have the choice to fly the DC-3 using GPS and AP. Although I have played with it for some days now it didn't work out that well for me, but after "studying" your video I'm able to enjoy the scenery a lot more, and do some monster flights without spending hours to write it all down on paper planning a flight (still great fun to fly "old school" though). Thanks a bunch for the effort and sharing.
Thanks for your comments. I like having the heads up (HUD) exterior display on which can be done in Options Assistance. That way I can enjoy some scenery an monitor the flight instruments while outside the aircraft. Enjoy flying the friendly sky's in MSFS.
I love how you kept fiddling with the KAP 140 exactly what I was doing, it's not arming the ALT. Weird AP behaviour it would sometime trim you all the way up and stall you. It's not your speed, it's just bugged.
Just did a flight from Titusville to Tally on FS2020, messed around with ILS function, worked well - but I was guessing what to press. This vid is helpful. Thanks!
If your altitude is too high, you will fly above the GS and approach mode will not be intercepted. If you do not have the correct frequency set for the runway the approach mode will not work.
Really food video. Learned a lot. Nobody except you go through the checklists. I love that because I want to learn. If I want to skip it later so be it. But I know how to do a cold and dark 172. Thanks. Following.
I’m having trouble getting it to work as well. I managed to get the heading hold to work last night by fluke but nav mode would not follow my flight plan. I’m using the Xbox version of the game too so I can’t zoom in very close to the instruments, I can hardly see what’s displayed on the Garmin screen so that doesn’t help matters 😂 I’ll try shifting the camera forwards on the closest view and try see what’s going on but yeah it’s very fiddly.
After much googling and playing around I found the problem was I was selecting nav too far from the line. You need to be right on it to guarantee it will work.
For the camera you can try to use the camera panel on top, then it should have set camera prefixes, atleast on pc, maybe you can get a good view of the Garmin from there
Once you get within range of the LOC1 (it will usually switch from GPS to LOC1 on it own) then you can hit approach mode and when you intercept the glideslope (GS) at the correct altitude the aircraft will begin the decent to the runway on the GS.
Success,I just made my first landing on autopilot . I do not use an external flight route planner So it was difficult to see which airport has ils or not. But the VFR map (under the V button on your keyboard) provides all the necessary information when you search for your destination. There you can see whether an airport has ILS or not. Thank you for your help, I will practice this more often so that I never forget it again, without your help I would never have succeeded.
Bummer...they changed that multifunctional screen. Ils is removed as far as i can see,now we only have vloc1 and 2. ILS was so nice. Now i have to learn how vloc1 and 2 works with this new update. Greetings from Holland. 🛩️🧑✈️🇳🇱
