Your explanation is excellent. I hope they also have a model or can see what these muscles really look like internally. Seeing the internal anatomy is everything!

My (all female) ballet teachers don't see why I want to learn tour en l'air. They all say, "But that's a boy's step!" and look at me like I've turned into a chicken.

I'll never know how they can meet both legs in the air, turn around, and then be in arabesque all before landing.

It is really cool to compare the styles and execution of the tour jete and the tour jete in gymnastics. I did gymnastics and that's where I learned how to do it, but mine looks very different from this one.

How should the back feel in a position that is not moving, ex. an arm held in second in a barre combination? I have heard to pinch a pencil between your shoulder blades, and have also heard to try to create space between shoulder blades, and I am confused.
@shmykiebransky4517
@shmykiebransky4517 2 года назад
Hi. The pencil pinching thing is totally wrong. I've had teachers, in the past, say this. It's just incorrect. From behind, it may APPEAR as if one is, "holding/pinching a pencil", but that's it! It's the result of the arms being held in a la seconde (2nd position). Nevertheless, the CORRECT feeling that one should/would experience, is a feeling of reaching out... stretching, and as if your elbows are being supported from underneath Shoulders DOWN, of course. PS: Judy trained with Madam Darvash at Broadway Dance Centre. I took Madam's class for 13 years. Saw Judy everyday at 10:15 class. Hope this helps.

I don't know how dancers remember these long combinations just seeing them once and then they are expected to repeat them flawlessly. In and in and out and side and back, side, side, in, out up, back...huh? wuh? I lost myself!
