A simple little channel about building, detailing, creating, and loving bringing model kits to life!
I don't just built and paint here - I've spent most of my life serving in uniform and learning about military technology on the job. In my videos I try to share some of the history, the technical facts, what we call "the beeps and squeaks" - the how and why - of the models I'm building and showing you as we go!
I would not call the Su-57, F-22 or F-35 stealth fighters. They are all fighters first and foremost with low observable aspects while the F-117 was geared for stealth but it was not a fighter and had spots for only two weapons. I did find it ironic that the instructions stressed the lack of Soviet technology leading to the faceted surfaces and as it turns out that's how ours actually was! This is a fun kit to do and I just bought another one to do in the 90's three blue Flanker style camouflage. (The last one was painted two tone brown with a grey belly like a Hind.)
As someone who never got any Tamiya kits I don't really have a say in this, I am happy that it is a more cheaper recent kit but I can understand the frustration.
There are painting instruction in the kit. But a little online research also goes a long way. There are always some little details every kit's instructions miss. You can built and paint just fine without looking at pictures of aircraft and ordnance. But if you spend some time looking around you'll find some places where you can add just a bit more detail with your paintbrush that will really make the model look great.
You're willing to skip an excellent kit of the subject because there's no pilot figure?!? I'd rather buy a good kit and source a pilot figure, than buy something like one of the older Hasegawa kits just because there's a just OK pilot figure in there.
There are two good books out there on the drones. I think they're just entitled as fireflies. Maybe rhymes in the name. I've got the books here someplace but I've got so much stuff I can't remember where it's at. Lots of good pictures. There was one from Vietnam. It was called tomcat and don't remember how many missions it flew before not returning
My dad worked for Ryan over 20 years. I did 14 and change. Love seeing these things wrapped up and shipped off as well as the airframe for the Apache helicopter. Those were good days until Boeing bought McDonald Douglas and took the Apache away from us. bye bye job
so those minis look like they came out of a combat patrol box, thus the photocopied instructions. it seems like you are getting 100$ at full msrp so what ever the price is without discounts. but those handles are 10 to 15 and 5 resin minis is not worth 35$ not good value for money. if it was 2 units out of a combat patrol and some resin minis i could see it.
I had the Revell kit as a kid, both in 1/144 and 1/48; I loved it. For me, it was the OG Stealth Fighter, but as it was a ripoff basically of the Testors design, both Arii and Revell withdrew theirs. Which is why those are much rarer these days... And some RC guys made the F-19 design fly btw. So the aerodynamics actually work! There's a YT clip of it; go look for it 😁
Wouldn't it have been a lot easier to do the mantlet for the main gun whilst assembling the kit ? That way you could have put the magnets behind the gun rather than at the side so it wouldn't droop
As a model builder that wants to build accurate models I appreciate this video but if I wanted to build a accurate Ukraine Abrams what kit would I buy because I built the M1A2 tusk 2 by RFM and it was 100% accurate and I was going off of a Abrams tank book I have but great video I understand your point and I will subscribe and thank you for your service!!!!
Much like a Grot with a welding torch, I'm looking at this less for the models themselves and more than devious little things I could smash them with to make something very ramshackle. Thanks for the review. God bless.
David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Thursday, 18 July, 2024) A base one can see intrudes upon the verisimilitude of the model. I never saw a plane with the world’s longest telegraph pole sticking out its belly. At 4:00, you even refer to “airplanes on a stick”. I have an idea (borrowing from the Chapman Crane in the motion picture industry, both cinema and television), though as I am not the technical sort, likely would require someone such as yourself. Something about your confidence and enthusiasm suggests to me that you have the mechanical and the electrical skills to develop my idea to fruition.
The rest of the world (including ukraines leaders) are profiting massively from this war, why shouldnt tamiya take more of the idiots money if they're willing to part with it😂
To fix the last Canon all you would have to do is put a magnet dead center of the back of the ball of the last Canon, and then on the front bracket put a magnet on the inside of it that way the two magnetic poles would keep the glass Cannon pointing straight and you wouldn't have to worry about making it permanent
I bought an F-16 thinking it was MASTER CRAFT ! not a good experience , looks like it was made from 3 kits , even different colours and don't even think about putting the decals on !! Good luck man !! does it have recessed panel lines ??
