This was actually there first train of the holiday! But yes I’m back now, sadly. I’m going to be uploading new shorts from each section of the journey, everyday next week, which will take a while. Great bit of filming, but the Woodhead Route should have become the country's foremost mainline heritage railway. It was there for grabs, complete with all lines, stations, bridges, tunnels, signal boxes. Above all, it connected two big cities. Every enthusiast in the country would have donated for such a project. There's still time, but now it would have to be rebuilt from scratch.

Of course! The Great Central, unlike other heritage railways in the uk, is equipped with a section of double track (between Loughborough and Rothley), meaning that visitors have the rare opportunity to see heritage trains passing each other at speed. Due to the railway having that section of double track, it is technically classed as a mainline railway, and unlike any other heritage line, it has a maximum operating speed of 75 MPH, instead of the usual 25 MPH. The original line went as far south as London Marylebone, and as far north as Manchester Victoria before it was cut up during Dr. Beechings nationalisation programme in the 60s/70s. This is the only example of a mainline heritage railway on the planet, hence its nickname! Glad you enjoyed the video, it was definitely one of my favourites to film! Hope my answer was helpful! 👍👍
Awesome shots! I saw her in Junction but then I went to Chester for the 57+60 tour and stupidly forgot about this returning and didn't manage to film it. 🫤 Anyway, amazing catches as always mate - loved them!
I was going to head to Chester to see 57306, but I decided to head to the Race Course bridge where I saw 44871 this morning, but missed her by about 30 secs! Not the start I would have wanted, however I know that I am passing through LLJ at some point this week! I’m going into town to see the trams, but I’ll see if I can stop off at LLJ for a bit!

I saw her in the morning but then completely forgot about her returning and booked tickets back to Junction so I got two videos; steam leading and diesel leading.. which were good videos at least. We've got the Northern Belle on Saturday, so if you're nearby then - pop in and say hello; I'll be there! 😎😂
@@TrainGuy_2008 I don’t know, I might be visiting the Llangollen line on the Saturday. I know that I’m coming to Llandudno tomorrow to ride on the Tramway, but I don’t know when exactly. The Midland Pullman and The Statesman are also coming through LLJ this week. Are you not going to see them?

@@TrainGuy_2008 Of course I don’t mind! Been in town today on the Great Orme Tramway and am going to be on the 15:42 Transport for Wales service to Manchester Airport. I’m not going to be stopping off at LLJ, but I’m definitely passing through!

Definitely! I was bloody scared though; the speed she was travelling at was incredible, bearing in mind she had just left Oxford! Would have liked a bit more noise, but it was still awesome to see! Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@SouthernRailSpotter haha, I can see why you'd have been scared.. especially considering it didn't look that fast on those bends just before the station!! Yeah, suppose there could've been more noise but there could've been less so at least you got some! ;) It was brilliant as always - keep it up!
When this was at NYMR, younger visitors thought it was diesel. Also they think any black steamer in reverse is a diesel, even though there never was any black diesels.
After this passed through, some people came through the crossing, who asked me, “was that a special DIESEL train?” Bear in mind these were adults, not kids. I don’t like it when people confuse the spam cams for diesels. They are far more beautiful the any diesel locomotive in this country.
@@SouthernRailSpotterI was doing research and found this engine King Edward II is currently waiting for its Overhaul since its boiler ticket expired in 2020 and I wasn’t able to find any other info on this. It’s twin King Edward I is currently undergoing an overhaul and its boiler ticket doesn’t expire till 2029 so it might be back soon but I didn’t see when this would be finished. Anyways nice shot, love the livery on this loco. Have a good day God bless

She was seen here returning for the Swanage Railway Diesel Gala, heading to Barrow Hill Roundhouse to drop of the 20s. 50021 ‘Rodney’ was due to be on the back, but I believed it was detached at Eastleigh. She’s not due to do anymore mainline tours until the 1st of June, so she’s got a bit of a break!
Been a while since I received a comments on this video! Sheffield park is easily the best Terminus (I guess) station in England. The 4MT wasn’t due to be running, and I’d travelled 4 hours from Oxfordshire, excepting to film Wightwick Hall for the day. Pity she failed that morning, but I do love a 4MT. Camelot and Fenchurch were also running on that day, which made it even better. Even though it was July, we got hale later in the day when I went to the Spa Valley Line to see there 33, which funnily enough had also failed 😂. Not the best day for heritage railways in the south-east!

Oh, I forgot about the Branch line Gala. I wasn’t planning on going to it, as it’s mostly western locos running (I’m not a massive great western fan), but I’ll happily still watch the video! I’ve seen the Epping and Ongar video. If I had known Leander was visiting, I would have definitely gone. Me and her don’t have the best relationship, but she is still my favourite LMS jubilee!
This shot was filmed at Toddington at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway! They own of a mixture of Western Stock, as well as a BR 4MT and this Merchant Navy Class. I believe it’s the 4th Merchant Navy to steam in preservation!
