As a layman, i appreciated this explanation. My older mother has dementia and a recent ALS diagnosis - genetic testing revealed a previously unknown mutation of UBQLN2. She submitted a skin biopsy for further study. As her son I have a 50% chance of having this mutation but without a confirmed link I have no idea how likely this unknown mutation is responsible for her ALS. Given family history where her mother and Aunt both had dimensia I’m a bit concerned. Don’t know if anyone will see this comment (3yrs post video),but curious on an expert’s thoughts about how long this type of research takes or how concerned I should be :). Even without any response I enjoyed this video 😊
As a blk woman, unfortunately this disease isn’t very well known in the blk community. A lot of us don’t know that much about this horrible disease. I’m so sorry this beautiful sista, has to go through this. I often wonder, why God would allow such a horrible disease to be placed upon a beautiful soul like samone. I don’t know if this young sista is still alive & fighting . But if she is, I’m praying for you queen 🙏🏽

I've smoked most of my life. But started smoking more after the first symptom showed up. After my diagnosis five years ago, I'm still riding my motorcycle. I do get cramps and have weakness in my shoulders and arms, but that's it. I will admit I smoke more CBD's now.
We just lost our beautiful friend to bulbar als. Such a cruel illness. We are off to her funeral today. Devastated to have lost a beautiful friend but relieved she is free from the cruel suffering this caused.
