Welcome to Drumdums! I am an avid movie lover with a passion for discussing film. I'm a drummer, runner, retired AF MSgt, and a music lover, and Jedi council member...so anything can happen in this place. Oh...and I freakin' love horror!
Recently I was listed as a certified Rotten Tomatoes Critic, which is pretty damn cool.
Movie Review Rating System:
Looped In Hell: The worst of the worst. Watching this movie would be torture! 2 Hours Lost: I've just wasted 2 hours of my day on this piece of crap. Humdrum: Just an average movie. Not great, but worth a watch. (There are quite a few Netflix movies that fit in this category) Purchase Worthy: One of the better movies out there. Definitely worth buying if you have the money. Trapped on an Island: The best of the best. A movie that puts you in a state of zen every time you are graced with its presence. (Evil Dead, The Thing, The Matrix) Unicorn: A Trapped on an Island, but Godlike in nature.
Good review! No on wanted to like this movie more than me. I went in with extremely low expectations and while I was entertained I was really disappointed.
Fully agree, sir. I really disliked this film as well. M. Night's dialogue and directing makes all the characters seem like weird, emotionless aliens. Good review as usual!
Honestly I thought the movie Intrusion with Freida Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire was more suspenseful than this movie. It had a similar plot without the concert angle.
This guy is supposed to be the Butcher, he butchers his victims to little pieces, so why does he have an elaborate Batman villain plot to gas this guy he has as a prisoner?
I did not like it. The direction was atrocious. It looked liked a long confusing videoclip. Immaculate was also nothing special but it was at least watchable. On the other hand I loved Consecration, a movie that others don't like for some reason.
I liked it for what it is. The redhead mother character felt like she was in another movie. The comedy bits were out of place but I liked the rest. I liked the ending too
I have to disagree. Enjoyed Trap from start to finish. Peculiar camera angles, unique acting, odd feel throughout. Trap kept me wondering what was coming next. Two thumbs up. The online crowd does not seem to understand anything different, sadly.
Hey I wanted to love it. I'm usually not the cynical type. But there were just too many red flags that annoyed the shit out of me. Glad you enjoyed it though.
I just watched the Slayer again tonight and I'm watching your review again great stuff the arrow video as you probably know by now has a 52-minute making of which is awesome
Fun fact. I’m going to see Marilyn Manson in a week and I just want to sing Let me in now And it will be nice. Then I realized LL MM and how interchangeable they could be. Love this film. I watched it twice in the theater
I liked it okay as Shyamalan has done far worse movies, but it still wasn’t great. The setup was a good one and I enjoy closed circle thrillers & Josh Hartnett delivered a great performance despite the writing being typical awkward Shyamalan. But wow that third act was a huge mess that seemed to show that Shyamalan didn’t know how to end the film succinctly and just dragged it out with like 5 false endings. And his daughter’s inclusion was just egregious & should’ve been cut out or at least get a singer who can decently act with limited lines; watching her was like a plank of wood
Thank goodness I didn't pay for this to watch... it was so so so so so so bad and insult to every person's intelligence above the age of five!!!... lazy directing lazy movie lazy dialogue.... I think I would give it a negative 10
Just watched it finally tonight. Why? I wasn't paying 20$ to watch a movie as a rental after already knows what happens. Why didn't she call cops???? Its bad. But not as bad as everyone says. Lol. Tool always!!!!! Concert here in Milwaukee last November, was THE BEST CONCERT I EVER SEEN! Bring on Chapter 2
the older FBI agent is from the girl from the original Parent Trap movie from the 60s! Haley Mills and she was also in Saved by the Bell as a teacher named Ms. Bliss
Just got back from it... This feels like a film wrapped around a dream journal idea-not a complete concept. Narrative is moved by non-stop exposition instead of interesting scenes. It is complete tell don't show. It's tonally uneven with attempted menace mixed with M. Night's dad humor. Third act is a mess-Josh Hartnett great performance. For a movie about a serial killer, there are zero major consequences or pay off.
Just watched X and this movie back to back last night, and honestly I give the movie a C. I loved 60%, liked 10%, and hated 30%. The 30% comes from the ending and how goofy it was, I mean what the hell? X was brutal and made Maxxxine’s father seem crazy on TV, but in this he seemed like he had a little fruit in his britches and acted like a cartoon character…and the violence was mostly off screen except the goofy ass shootout. Final gripes, Bobby and Michelle might have the two worst characters I’ve seen in a horror/thriller movie in a long time! Damn shame that they were such a waste of good acting talent for that buffoonery
I feel I am one of the few people who enjoyed this movie. I thought Josh harnett’s performance was great ! And his character is so smart, at least I thought 😊 I enjoyed the concept of the movie but I must say it feels like M. Night shyamalan was trying to advertise his daughter sooooo much ! I’d say the first 40-50 minutes which is the concert segment the pacing feels much slower than it is because he threw a bunch of songs just to promote his daughter but as an actress I think she’s fine. The movie isn’t that long but in the 1st half it feels longer because of the concert segment. And I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed the ending despite I thought the thing involving the pie was a bit predictable, another thing I didn’t enjoy was many Conveniences !! but the last scene itself was cool. Overall I enjoyed this movie. 7,5/10.
What are you talking about? I thought it was a good movie. Just because it wasn't what you wanted to see doesnt mean that it was messed up in terms of story or character
@@LukeLovesRose Sure they do. Honestly man I just thought this took it to an unexceptionable level. And I didn’t care for the final act. But that’s just me man. I’m so happy you enjoyed it though. 👏
And because you were title, and several other things is why I do not watch reviews anymore You’re so much about your personal opinion and you don’t judge movies very well
Personal opinion is pretty important in reviewing a film tbh. Technical aspects are important too. At the end of the day, it's still an opinion. How the movie made me FEEL. I don't try to preach my opinion as fact.
I have to know. Was the term “shitters” used in some parts of the country in the late 1970s? Or did that word originate with John Carpenter or the screenplay writer during the making of this movie? My dad graduated high school in 1982 and he said he doesn’t remember people using that term during that time. Just curious if anyone knew.
