Torque converter lock up. Typically they will shift to third and then converter lock up will happen which brings rpm down almost like shiting a gear. the engine and trans are now couple without any “slip”
Hearing the sound of this truck makes me miss my Vapa and his truck. He passed away in September 2022 and we just sold his truck over a month ago. He actually would have been 89 today. RIP Vapa ❤️🙏🏼🐐
Cracked injector cups will do this all day! I’ve personally seen one with no fuel in the coolant but dribbling coolant into the combustion chamber without the coolant system being pressurized 😅 Start simple! Check fuel pressure at idle and most importantly Under load. Change fuel filters with motorcraft don’t be cheap and make sure you have the correct cap and gasket on the fuel bowl. Then move onto the coolant system inspect check for anything strange smell level ex. Then move onto removing the valve covers don’t be scared fire it up just use caution with everything disconnected listen to your injectors check the deflector for average flow rates. Hopefully before all this you did a contribution test and a buzz test normal protocol. Then drain the logs pull your injectors in order inspect o- rings replace is a must with oem o-rings if your contribution test lays out a lazy injector look it over and replace if no visible signs oring damage or injector cups having issues. Next with all the injector out I like to do this pressure up the coolant system to 15 psi after I clean the ID of the cups then sit back and watch every single one if you see a injector it’ll tell the story pay close attention to that hole. If you find one replace them all don’t chase your tail. Obviously for what ever reason I always see 2 and 6 on the driver side crack idono why maybe someone has a understanding why but 2/6 makes 3-5 show up when your issue is on the opposite bank maybe because 8s on the same bank as 2/6. Even paying close attention to the injector balance it’ll try and compensate and thus you start to notice a stiction trend. To all the ole 7.3s keep them on the road money well spent on the old dinosaurs they deserve all the most respect for an engine that never wants to lay down when sick and thus it makes them sometimes so hard to pin point lol… Hope everyone has a blessed one and roll a hint of coal without the def dpf and egr not limited to the wonderful regen system 😅 that alone makes all your old school stuff worth its weight in gold given that alone in cost to repair is greatly more expensive than everything listed on your 7.3 roughly. Btw change your oil and filter including your fuel filter that whole HEUI system aka your injectors need good oil and clean fuel unlike some of the high fuel pressure systems on the market today.
Been there, Done that with TS Performance for years. Over the past 8 years or so their quality took a plummet, and upon my most recent experience with them their customer service is abhorrently ignorant. I have been installing these for years and when they claimed I was at fault and absolutely unwilling to accept the chip in question at the time had issues, even with videos of a known good one on the same truck vs the one I had contacted them about. TS Performance is just a shell of their once popular glory and they received every piece of promotional and inventory stock that had their name on it with overnight shipping and a letter explaining that I will never install or sell another one of their products with a printout of the 157 chips I have installed over the past 12 years. I have since turned down over 2 dozen jobs at the request of a TS chip and unwillingness to compromise with a VASTLY better product all around. Don't give your money to them.
I gotta be honest that truck sounds absolutely badass! I love how the 6.0’s just sound so beautiful and gorgeous whenever you accelerate! I love how you put power in those RPMs
