Watching this video still gives me chills. To hear Clint Haverty talk about The Big Gun and listen to his successes is so exciting, having owned this horse. It makes me want to clone him! He throws those high white socks and color pattern so often. You know when you see a Big Gun baby. Wow!
EDIP - The great principles of teaching. EXPLAIN....What to do DEMONSTRATE...How to do it IMITATE....Get the participants to do it too. PRACTICE....Have them Practice, practice, practice....THAT is the only way to learn.
How was the AQHA show? Yes, I am having fun here in South Carolina. I got promoted two years ago to the head position. Equestrian Director for a 70 horse operation. I bought a paint cutting bred gelding about a year ago that I am having a great time taking to shows and cutting cattle with. I keep hoping to bring him to the paint world show one of these years and see all of you again!
@MLGJ74 - Doing great! Big Gun is having lots of great babies and the breeding season is going well and starting early. We are on our way to an AQHA show at the Stock Show facility this afternoon. You know, AQHA shows go forever at a time so we will be there all week. How are you doing? Are you having fun, I hope so!
Megan: thank you for posting this! I can't believe little Gavin is spinning on horseback and he looks like he is having so much fun! how are you and your horses doing?
stunning, To me, the stills really capture the horse's skill and amazing desire to please Shawn. I see such joy in the horse through these stills. Thank you
@Adumsgurl - your colt is adorable! Brian said to tell you that Pepper was the easiest baby he has ever broke. As soon as she figured out what he wanted her to do, it was just like "okay, I'll do that" but the challenge was making her understand what he wanted - particularly with going forward! I showed him your video and he said, yes, going forward was the hardest part. I wonder if it might have been easier with Pepper because he had a hackamore on her and it put pressure on her face...
I have a deaf gelding that we just started riding last week. He was a little confused on the moving forward part but he finally got it! I am so proud of him. Your filly is beautiful. Check out me video byt typing in apha deaf and it should pop up. His registered name is Do You Hear me Now
@usarabian - He's a paint with quarter horses in his pedigree. When he loves to do freestyle so much that he gets excited and prances and shows off - like an Arab!
We got him a couple of weeks ago. What a pleasant surprise he turned out to be. We had 3 people wanting to buy him - before he even showed. Plus, Devin rides like a dream anyway. Pun intended.
@MLGJ74 - Thanks Michelle. This filly doesn't walk or trot anywhere. She lopes. Patsy is going to breed Babe back to Rooster because she is trying for a minimal white BAY tobiano. I saw this one is pretty darn nice. mm
@MLGJ74 Hi, Michelle - She is Devin's assistant. She used to be a youth client. Then she interned at Reisingers and then she came here. She does most of the all around training.
Thank you! I used my motorola Droid smartphone video camera for the first time so no zoom function but it was so fun to watch Alyece riding that big horse and he just did what she wanted, no big deal!
How cool! I just went to go see this event last weekend, and my friend and I were trying to recall past performances. This one was the most memorable for both of us!
Thanks! This horse is such an aggessive mover. Single photos don't show the power and finesse that makes this horse a one in a million champion. I felt that I needed to show each movement but in a complete set because this horse is so unusual and so powerful - and Shawn is an amazing rider too.
I'll tell Denise that you said Hi. Dude is retired and now Denise rides "Schooch" (sp?) in reining, roping and barrels when Devin lets her. haha The Douglas County Fairground facility is really pretty nice and it is about 25% of the cost of renting the Stock Show facility so I hope we can use it again next year!
