the full hoist clips should be infront of the patient not on top of the head and patient should be able to hold the bars where the clips attaches if he could. The toilet access should be wheel chair friendly and there should be no steps in the way or the best way is to transfer patient to a wheeled commode chair which can be wheeled to the toilet .Hoists are not supposed to be used for transport they are meant for transfers only.
