My friend was in US Iowa doing his EE during 80s, and many of the state residents do not even know where Little Red Dot is located. So he told them right below Vietnam, oh ok. 😅 they hit it off because of 70s Vietnam War.
The sink bowl and tea-towels are normal, soaking dishes is just lazy student behaviour :) ..unless you soak dishes for getting rid of hard to remove food.. Drinking is the most common way to socialise, although I think it may become less so with younger generations.. I suppose health wise it's best to just have a drink as you would any other, eg with a meal, and actually enjoy the drink, instead of drinking purely to get drunk. I feel there needs to be a limit on gambling advertising across Europe and US on tv, not just the UK. The UK gov limited most gambling adverts to only appear after a certain time in the evening. It has of course also creeped into videogames and the google play store to an extent, which doesn't help. As for smoking, that's surely the biggest waste of money and (eventually) health, esp if you are a student! Avoid that one if you can
I feel as if you have experienced the pinnacle of the drinking culture in the uk. It peaks in university, the rest of the uk is still bad compared to Malaysia but I can assure you it is nowhere to that level that happens in university
While I don't think I have experienced it personally, I do notice how much the British actually drink at University and it's definitely way more than that in Singapore 😅
