Hey, I took Route 1 which is paved all the way route 95 has a few parts unpaved. but should still be fine to drive. From 25:45 to 42:10 you can check out route 1 from Hofn to Egilsstadir. The thumbnail of the video seems to show 95 my bad on that one.
no the road is good, however it can get a bit foggy at times, you can see my drive that part in real time in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4TotTivP0oA.html
Når jeg har vært i Stavanger og skal heim over Tonstad velger jeg enten denne ruta eller å ta av E39 på Helleland. Denne ruta er definitivt favoritten og den er nesten like lang.
The toll road was quite a drive up and back down; do you find rental vehicles in Norway reliable to take such a chance on a gravel road to such heights? I am planning to rent a vehicle while in Tromsø for an overnight trip to Olderdalen and back to Tromsø which will be all on paved highways (E8 & E6, plus 2 ferries); any advice? The Fykesundbrua was another spectacular span being single car only! The drive along Hardangerfjord was lovely even though overcast and drizzling; the overcast gave another aspect to to the clarity and the colors of the landscape. Short tunnel. The waterfall was a nice ending treat! Thanks for sharing an enjoyable ride.
they are reliable yes, although i do always get zero-risk insurance just in case. makes me do roads like this a bit easier. As for your trip that should be fine the roads in general in Norway are in good condition. just make plenty of stops to look around at the scenery!
Sadly i had 2 realy bad weather days so all i got remaining from this trip are these rainy/cloudy videos, I hope you will still enjoy them. After this I got some reworked footage coming up from previous/other trip to Lofoten islands, wich had a bit better weather for the most part.
Wow! Had I skipped the tunnels I might not have seen an incredible engineering feat! Going from the tunnel it looked like a tunnel of tall trees, but what a sight to see the longest suspension bridge in Norway only to go back into a tunnel. With the turn-abouts inside the tunnels it must have been built by trolls and moles! Glad you changed your plans! Hardanger fjord, 2nd longest fjord in the world is world, is famous for its apples and fiddles. How kind of you to make the red truck disappear! What a surprise ending; knowing that a storm was coming, you took a chance driving up that long winding gravel road; what an idyllic location. Is that where you spent the night? Pairing the Peer Gynt Suite with the video made it one of your best, if not your best! On my return to Norway in late August I will be spending several days on the island of Stord at the south end of the Hardanger; it's the birth place of my Norwegian friend. Thanks for sharing!
Indeed The Bridge and tunnels are an incredible engineering feat, if i had not gone this route last minute I would have just driven past it and back again just to see it! and I wish you the best on your trip in August hopefully get to see some sights!
Norway is very clean in general indeed! Sadly, there is always a tourist here and there that does not clean up their mess. But that's the odd occasion.
The Original driving plan was to go in the direction of Haugastøl from Kinsarvik, however, there was a heavy storm coming from the East including a Red weather warning that came with road closures as several roads would be unsafe to drive on. So I had to replan my remaining time in Norway. And I decided to drive away from the storm to the West. I stood up as early as I could as it was predicted to rain heavily in the afternoon.
Hey, you are the first person to actually comment that the hood of the car being on camera view is really annoying, personally I like it, as it gives a sense of the size of the road and a feeling you are on top of the car yourself, but I can see why some people might think it is annoying. I would have to cut part of the footage on most trips to remove the small part of the hood which I rather not do. However, if more people prefer not to see it, I can try to cut it out in future videos. I would need some more feedback on this though from more viewers.
