Remove 1 day before going to emissions test. You'll fail due to monitors not being ready. Also, if you leave it parked for more than 5 days, unplug it cause there's a chance you're battery might drain.
My one gripe with these (I've got one) is the warm up sequence is loud, which don't get me wrong it sounds amazing, then as soon as it warms up enough it's pretty quiet. Like it really doesn't match
The cold starts are loud because ignition timing is heavily retarded with the intention of warming the cats as fast as possible. This is also an "issue" with the FA24D in the BRZ/GR86, and has been tuned out using ECUTEK in a number of cars.
Took one for a drive the other day, starting it up at the dealer had us shouting at eachother just to talk over the rumble lol. These things sound great stock.
Also, check out shift technologies to get the bypass cooler deleted on that and you will run a heck of a lot cooler on your transmission temperatures and save your transmission as well but yes, I’m running a unit very similar to that on my 2021 Silverado and I’m having no problems
Here in December 2023, bought one of these knock-offs on Black Friday weekend for $53. Works like a charm. I had been driving it it M5 mode, now it can use 6th gear on the highway and doesn't ever go into v4.
I had a chirping, ticking noise. Thought it was a belt pulley or something. Dealership tells me that it’s likely this lifter failure issue. I’m just of powertrain warranty of course. After more checks they find two broken exhaust manifold bolts that was causing the noise due to leaking. Still cost me $1100 but not anywhere near the lifter replacement cost. At least they didn’t try and screw me on that. Just wanted to share as I guess this isn’t that uncommon and kind of made the same sound. Regardless I getting a Range disable anyway. 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L all stock except 2” levelling kit.
I've been using this in my 2013 5.3 for 3 or 4 months now, and it works great. My fuel mileage is exactly the same average as before, and it stays in 8 cylinder. No issues.
