Haven’t been to Dorney Park in many years. Thunderhawk was my very first coaster (it was just called the Coaster back then) when I was about 8 years old. That would have been about 1963. Back then, there was an old mill-style ride called Journey to the Center of the Earth and Bumper Cars in the same pavilion as the station for the Coaster- prior to the first lift you went through a tunnel. I still remember the damp smell of that tunnel. Later, when my mother was in her late 50’s, she and I rode it together for the first time.
The black diamond was the golden nugget many years ago on hunts pier in wildwood nj and was one of my favorite rides I’ve never been to knoebles but it’s on my bucket list. Btw I just found this channel so far so good 👍👍👍👍
I've never been here but my sister has and ice heard so many food things about this park and I hear the food prices are reasonable!! Hope to visit one day!
You may Not know but The Black Diamond dark ride is the Old Original Golden Nugget dark ride from Wildwood NJ Original tracks and Cars added to Knoebels back in 2017 as the Wildwood sold most attractions on the pier because of money and old age rides that would cost a butt load of money to revamp.
The Black Diamond was originally named The Golden Nugget and was on Hunt's Pier in Wildwood, NJ built in 1960. It was sold in 2009 to Knoebels who rethemed it to coal mining.
@@park4park592 A little faster and longer from what I remember. On the golden nugget you came out on the roof for a period of time also. Search for "golden nugget wildwood nj", there are ride through videos on youtube.
Thanks for sharing this! I have always wondered what the cabana experience is like but thought it would be too expensive. But that discount on special days with a season pass sounds totally worth it! I love the prices for the food and that you don't have to wait in line.
I just found this video in my feed and since I love Knoebels (courtesy of Jacob the Carpetbagger) and your video is exactly the kind I love but done in a warm, inviting, and inclusive way. I LOVE IT! I already LIKED, already SUBSCRIBED and next I'm going to go back and watch all of the ones I missed. THANK YOU for making this!!! :)
Oh man, thank you! That means so much! We absolutely loved Kenobels and will return! Thank you for the sub! There are plenty more fun trips ahead for the channel!
Absolutely! It feels like the new steel coasters just get straight to business! We rode Pantheon at busch gardens and that was the same impression. Still fun but short.
Aw thank you so much! We're in south NJ, like a half hour from Philly. But we are always down for a road trip to a park! We're always looking for different stuff too like Knoebels. That was so cool and we will definitely go again.
We are fortunate to live about 45 minutes from Knoebel’s, so we go there as often as we can. I went there as a child, we took our children there, and now we take our grandchildren. My husband’s company usually has its annual picnic at Knoebel’s. It is by far the best park ever!
That's so cool! I would have loved to have that as my childhood park. I grew up going to a free-to-enter called Playland in NY but Knoebels blows that place out of the water. We can't wait to go back!
@@park4park592 when you do return to Knoebel’s, make sure to take a moment to go through the mining museum and the carousel museum. And the funnel cakes are amazing! They also acquired an old Bayern Curves ride that they are in the process of restoring (near the Skloosh). And the Scenic Skyway takes you up the mountain and back again, giving you amazing views of the park. Btw- if you go during the week, you can purchase an all-day ride pass!
Great video! I live only a 1.5 hour drive away from Knoebels! LOVE this place! My favorite ride is the Flying Turns! So smooth it literally feels like you are flying!
Yes on its final hump the phoenix will disengage from the track by about 5 inches at the mid section of the train. You can hear it slam back in place. There is high speed footage slowed way down that discusses it on youtube here.
@@park4park592 Ill give you 10 cool Easter eggs. 1. Go to the anthracite museum to the left of Black Diamond. In the right side of that building is a knoebels history museum 2. Go towards the loaf of bread, stay to the right mostly and ride Kosmos Curves. Its one of the best Junior coasters you will ever ride. 3. There is a statue in the park which recreates Iwo Jima 4. Take a selfie on the covered bridge and dont forget a sharpie because its allowable to write your name on the beams. Some names are decades old. There are famous people who have signed it. 5. Look for flood markers near the giant birthday cake building. The park was nearly lost several times in recent memory and in distant memory. 6. In the haunted house. The upside down room used to zig zag and had psychedelic pictures and played music from a clock work orange, guests would tip their cart over and climb out and have dance parties. The park then made it the skull room but kids would take rings from the merry go round in there and break the mirrors. Eventually it was made into the upside down room. HOWEVER it is a hidden maintenance room in winter. One wall opens up and is a full museum and work shop that only staff gets to see. 7. The small stone building by Flying Turns sells fudge and its the best fudge you will ever eat. 8. There are actually two trains in the park. 9. There is a new ride laying on the ground just after the photo thing on gasoline alley. 10. The seating area in front of phoenix was once the parks parking lot until it became too popular and the park expanded.
We used to have a local one in San Bernardino county called "pharaoh's lost kingdom". I had a summer pass and would go a lot with my best friend and his family back in the early '00s, maybe 01-02. It was destroyed a few years ago to make way for warehouses, but it is still just a bunch of concrete rotting away with only a few signs of what it was.
I worked Disney Attractions for 9 years. I too had to deal with guests during ride issues. I always tried to turn it into a fun experience for the guests. You did that when you put everyone on RU-vid.
Oh yeah I heard about the weekday wrist band I love that! Flying Turns was my favorite and by far most unique ride! We will definitely be back to Knoebels for a longer stay probably a water day and a ride day! And to try out the rest of the food lol
Wow what a place! Nice to have all that sitting space. Make sure you are looking right into the camera. So much Scraming!! LOL Thank you for taking us!
