My name is Jon Santiago and I started World of Nuance to offer a window into the subtleties of humanity. It's my belief that the world isn't black and white, but instead one of many contrasts. The mission of this channel is to make videos enforce that message.
I visited the house at 720 Steiner Street back in the late 1970s. My step grandfather knew the home owner and he gave us a tour of his house. What struck me as a 10-year-old kid from suburban San Jose was how narrow the house is and that the hallway was on the side of the house and not down the middle of the house. The video says that they were run down in the 1970s/1980s, but I can tell you that they were in good shape in the 1970s and were famous (locally) before the book was published. What changed that area from a multi racial multiethnic neighborhood wasn't Redlining but the influx of high paid tech workers in the 1990s/2000s, resident tourist as I call them.
wow...that is a way more positive experience living in one of the most famous houses in the country than expected. I would have thought it to be a tiresome chore, and best left to someone who could afford to leave the house vacant. the reality is so much nicer...and George seems like a peach.
George seems to be a great and blessed human being. I can't say I've always been aware of these houses. I stopped watching television years before "Full House." Were they ever featured on any other TV show or movie?
I liked hearing about his story, especially since his family has lived there for multiple generations. I lived there as a child and had extended family there after we moved, so we'd visit frequently every month. Even though the city has had/is having some rough times, there's still a charm to the city. It's history is rich and the arts/culture there is cool to experience.
Very cool! When I saw those houses in San Fran, I too wondered if anyone lived in them! I wish the owner would've said how his neighbors in the other painted ladies are, though.
Did you leave this comment on every single video on RU-vid that features drone footage of the ROV? FYI RTRT publicly supported this video so worry about yourself. Haters gonna hate! Nice try Fred.
I, for one, don’t care what “Europeans” think on my country, especially when they are smug and rude about it. But I will say one thing, far more people around the world dream of moving to the USA than to Europe. Ask yourself why!
Your system works because of the people in your country, they’re smart and civilized. It’s also a lot harder to move to Norway as opposed to the USA that’s why people are so against free stuff because people just walk over and collect from our government. Also most of the people coming now days to the US are not desirable and have serious records and a lot of my friends are Spanish immigrants that moved here the last 20 years and even they are scared of the people coming over now. I would much prefer to live in Norway and live with your system but unfortunately in the USA it’s impossible because of the people
Surprise lots of Jews from Israel living in Mexico, lots in Mexico city see them at the Airport, didn't see Jewish Mexicans, just Jews with the caps, nothing unusual about that
Woaaaaah 500$ is not so much even for me as a russian Is it possible to move from russia to norway? Im have european appearance and im culturally western, it would be easy to integrate! Love so much Scandinavian aesthetic, all what i want in my life is just lying in northern forest, listening birds and other life around me and become united with nature Of course in russia we have 90% of our territories just empty forests but i find norway culture and nature a bit more attractive ❤❤❤
Before there were parks, like Central and Golden Gate ( and before germ theory, when belief in a sickening miasma created the call for parks) cemeteries were used as parks in urban areas. It’s no coincidence that the designer of Central Park, Frederick Law Olmstead designed the park like Mountain View cemetery in Oakland’s Piedmont district
What a cool fact. I did not know that. Thanks for sharing! I found the cemeteries in Colma to be really beautiful and a little bit awe-inspiring too. Definitely a unique place to spend a day in the bay.
I live in Las Vegas and that is as close to California as I care to be. It's nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. And that opinion has nothing to do with the dead. 😉 😉 ✌️
For 5,000.- a month in Oslo City, Norway 🇳🇴 you pretty much get a room with that fits a Bed and not much more, then comes Electricity, Heating and Internet on that. 🤓🇵🇭
