I remember watching this scene in the theatre when i was a kid and it made me so sad to see Mystique being left off specially after she sacrificed herself for Magneto
In reality the so called heroes are the real villains and the so called villains are the true heroes, in fiction the so called superheroes are the actual villains and the so called villains are the real superheroes so what does that tell you about this fucked up world we’re living in, things are not always as they seem? Yeah that’s where your thinking should be headed.
Not gonna lie, I hate this scene and what it does to Magneto as a character. Sure he may believe in the superiority of mutants and that it will lead to an inevitable confrontation with the rest of the human race, but I don't for even a single second believe he would leave Mystique like this, just because she isn't a mutant anymore. She still has the same morals and beliefs, and she just saved him from this fate, no other scene has ever come close to justifying this decision for me.
Mangeto free his girl and destroy car and truck his power metal hedning and hi free armies from truck and his friends pyro and shcockblast and his friend its power full to
Love Ian, but I'm not a fan of his Magneto. He does an AMAZING job playing him, I'm just not a fan of how he's written. Abandoning his own simply because they're "no longer one of us". OG Magneto would commence an immediate worldwide genocide on his own if he ever witnessed a mutant becoming 'undone'. It's why I prefer the animated versions of Magneto. He's evil, but his love for mutantkind has no bounds. Not even when they're 'cured'... X-Men 97 Magnus wept for Storm when she got neutralized.
Terrible film, but a great scene in it. I love how this contrasts with Mystique breaking Magneto out in the last film - that was a subtle, involved plan, this is Magneto rocking up and dismissively waving his hands a few times.
this is back when they did things to make it good for cinema not comic accuracy, making things accurate to the comic doesn't always work well in film, i personally loved the origional xmen films even if they weren't the same as comics
