Well spotted. The bells were recast at Taylor’s expense from the original victorian 8, which were considered a poor ‘Grimethorpe’ ring. To reduce costs, the headstocks were reused on the new bells.
@@RingerThomas I’ve not rung at all to compare (am ringing at Howden later this month) but specifically in West Yorkshire I’d argue it’s between Ilkley and Heptonstall at the minute (with Heptonstall probably winning), but that’s just picking two heavy 8s. There’s also plenty of lovely lighter 8s e.g. Oxenhope and Kirkheaton which are fab but the most impressed I’ve been in West Yorkshire with a larger 8 was definitely by the two previously mentioned
