mediocre gamer here with some insight on the silly dunsparce game/team!: this paraspam team is mostly just a comfort pick, believe it or not, but it definitely requires rng to be at least a *little* in my favor, my body slams did NOT want to para at any point that game lmao. as stupid as dunsparce is it really holds its own against a surprising number of mons, gengar notwithstanding (i've had it 1v1 boomless metagross on multiple occasions its kind of a beast), but its main purpose is to be a second serene grace bodyslammer next to rachi as an answer to ground types like pert and dol who jirachi often struggles against while bulky dunsparce actually takes hits surprisingly well as you saw in this game, and if wak end up dying too early i have curse rest lax as a second win con while also being a bodyslammer for wak, it coulda rested up at the end there vs aero and keep me in the game but the flinch was unfortunate overall i'm not too upset with how rng treated me since its just how pokemon do, the tournament was fun and i had a good time just participating! GGs to all and thanks for the fun commentary!
I started out with dunsparce in gen3ou and it can actually do some useful stuff with headbutt flinches if the enemy is paralysed. But I would never bring it to a tournament, unfortunately you got really unlucky there. Respect!
thanks for the kind words and for checking out the channel! gonna be posting much more here and occasionally on the Revival channel too, super excited to help cover the tourney :)
@gaminwithdawgietheman420 this is being played on Pokémon Showdown, a website that let's you simulate matches from any of the main Pokémon games. Specifically this is from a tournament called ADV Revival 2. Check out the full video for more info
Excellent commentary. I've subscribed. Also, you're not a bad lookin dude, but I find that seeing someone's face on screen while watching the game is a bit distracting.
That G1 was HILARIOUS lmao. Also I would rather you talk without interrupting the game much, maybe only slowing down the speed to react, it's pretty fun to be amazed at the match alongside the commentator I think, lol
If you’re still taking suggestions for sets I would love to see you commentate R2 MoxieKrok vs SanBaiBeepo! MoxieKrok is a close friend of mine who has very little ADV experience but he played really well and the set was crazy close
Yeah I recognized you were simply sacking the Slaking, but I was surprised that the focus punch text at the beginning of the turn even showed up despite the turn being a truant turn. def learned more about the mechanic from this set
Looking for feedback: there were a few times this set where things were happening so fast it was difficult to mention everything while keeping up with the match. In such situations would you prefer that I occasionally pause to quickly collect my thoughts, or should I keep letting the gameplay flow uninterrupted?
I think it would make a lot of sense to watch the sets to completion before recording commentary so you can identify the best points to stop and highlight a major decision or outcome. I get wanting to record your genuine reaction but there's little time for that to have an impact when the pace of the gameplay is so quick. Also makes the content more accessible to casual viewers who don't play a lot themselves but know enough to follow along if they have certain things explained.
I'm all about the pausing, personally! In fact, I'm a fan of hearing commentary done at slower game speeds, but I might be in the minority for that one.
Hey! I'm Leeto64, i'm playing on the tour and would enjoy commentary on my sets if you want, I even got to play Round 2 with Nicki, the Icies main (I know nothing of the current Melee scene my b!) but am not sure if it'll be covered on the main Revival Tournaments channel. Thanks, and I wish you the best!
