Hi. I'm a Canadian interactive designer / illustrator / artist / crafter who has recently renewed my love for traditional art mediums and I'm exploring them now. Hi! Thank you for your lovely video, it is so satisfying. I'm teaching gilding myself but it's quite tough. I use red clay bole but it didn't raise enough. I'm googling traditional cennini recipe but it didn't looks lie yours. Acc I love yours more hehe. Can you give me some advice or reference to make raising gesso myself? Thank you for your sharing lovely skills to everyone. Hope u have lovely day!
I enjoyed them as a beginner but you are correct on lightfastness! Had two in a folder (sun never hit them) & two weeks later several colors had faded so sticking to my regular watercolors even though these can paint on (mixed media paper) but don’t like 100% cotton!
Have you figured out a new system on opening your tubes? I usually keep the top upright for a lil… hoping the paint goes down into tube… but mess happens 😆
Thank you! Just a quick point -- Acid-free is a term usually applied to a wood pulp paper (or mix) which means the naturally occurring acids have been buffered. The problem is that no one knows how long the buffering will last and the acids will become active again. Better to go all cotton if you can afford it, there is no acid at all. Just watch out for that 'acid-free' label, it's a marketing term used more and more.
When I open new tubes I make sure to hold the tube over a pan before the lid unscrews so any paint that oozes does so into the pan! Then I use a toothpick to push the left over paint in cap into pan. Very little waste
Ok I have to say I loved watching you mixing your colors. You’re so cute and funny with all your amazement. Wish I could see the face that goes with that voice.
I hope you make color copies of your best pages! Froyle Davies uses them multiple times and shares them with her followers! Also a good way to utilize both sides of a page! I love the idea of using inks on the wet pages. I’ve also learned to only do half a magazine at a time because if the drying space required!
You people on RU-vid are crazy as hell. Those damn things spread and carry the plague and you brought it into your home. If you were able to pick up a squirrel or want a healthy squirrel.
If they produce money when mixing em count me in. Best Type Oh of the Day. Looking at some of Brenda Swensons latest artworks using both sets (Primery 6 and Primatek 6 set) has one thinking differrent. Ordered both to put in my new Santa Fe 12 half Pan Brass Travel Box. They deserve a happy home. Enjoyed the Demo thx.
Too complicated but I am an artist who likes to do my own thing. Painting by numbers would be great for people who don't want to mess up when they paint if they have the patience to do this process.
Yes. I stayed with the video but the music is truly awful. Way too loud and that picking percussion noise is really intrusive. Silence would be fine, or brown noise. I enjoyed the paintings, thanks.
This was really helpful, thank you! This is a great review, it’s so helpful to be able to see how the paints mix 🙏🏻. I’m definitely going to try them. I use both watercolor and gouache, so having something in-between sounds pretty cool 🤓.
