Fabulous bag. Brilliant transformation and a great quilt block, too. It's going to be very useful. Certainly not disqualified in my book. I totally agree about the time constraints on the Sewing Bee. I think a lime green Sauvie Sundress would look terrific with that pink lace
You could add a band to the bottom of the blue short caftan like you have on the Tulip Dresses you made. I think it would be cute since it is a fairly straight style except for the bit of gathering above the stomach under the tie belt.
Just a thought ….this month is project dress a girl. the cotton fabric clothes you’re planning to donate could be repurposed for that cause. I remember your DAGW dresses from last year, you made so many!
Hi Christine! Great job in cleaning out your s/s clothing stash! The fringe dresses, the stasia dress are too lovely to re-purpose. I think you should take them to your sewing social as well. If I lived in England, I'd talk you into selling them to me. So pretty. As you were thinking of things you could make with other fabrics, I was thinking some would make gorgeous pillow cases, gift bags, and storage boxes. Now that you're also quilting, you could make a matching set of quilted table mats, or a table runner, tea cozy, bolster shaped pillow, etc. You can also save some pieces of each garment and make a quilt. The dress with the large flowers I could see as lovely outdoor pillows or a tablecloth. Just some ideas. You have a lot to work with. Can't wait to see what your creative mind comes up with. Have fun!
Great vlog Christine, I always love it when you say it’s going to be a long one ,get yourself a cuppa. I wouldn’t want to part with those fringe dresses ,they are gorgeous and that fabulous floral with the puff sleeves, wow what a stunning dress! I am looking forward to your Autumn sewing. Will there be more Pogonips ,I wonder?😂
Hi loved your vlog this morning. Your tips were good about turning the coat hanger. I struggle with the seasoning change . Perhaps a vlog on wardrobe organising , just an idea.
If you are getting into bag making, you can use your smaller makes to sew pouches. I do that with my small pieces, join them together, quilt the so seams aren’t as noticeable.
Morning Christine. Loving your vlog as usual 😄 Just wanted to say that not all charity shops sell hand made items. When I worked for Cancer Research (2013) we weren’t allowed to sell handmade, so they ended up in the rag bags 😔 It’s madness considering how most handmade garments are probably made to a higher standard than shop bought. It might be worth checking. Hopefully things have changed 🤞🏼
Same at our charity shops. Although none of them are taking donations at the moment. I think also if you take end of season clothes, there is an even higher risk of them being offloaded as rags, as they don't have long term storage, which would be a shame with items that have been beautifully made.
Hey Christine - do you think the fleece back sweatshirt would be good for the Pogonip? It looks so wonderfully snuggley, I've been shying away from the Pogonip as I don't know what fabric to use! 😞
Hi Christine! I like the yellow combo for the Jo dress. What are the project bags you use called? I have been looking for some good size project bags… Since I am tired of having a box of WIP’s - gave myself a goal for September to complete/repair one WIP for every 2 garments sewn. Thank you for sharing your fabrics and pattern ideas. Happy Sewing 🪡 🧵
Hi Christine. I kind of have a combo of two of the things in your WIP category. I am not signed up for any fitting class, but have been working on multiple versions of a toile for a jacket all summer off and on. Today I made the last round of changes to my paper pattern and am finally ready to cut out the real fabric. I find fitting to take a lot of time, so it makes sense a fitting class might be put aside when things get busy or other projects are more appealing. For the Jo dress -- using the yellow bias binding might compete with the beautiful geometric print. Have you considered using a teal or black for the bias bindings? I hope your new machine is the absolute best possible at buttonholes, Antonia
I had the same problem with the Pilar pocket flaps. I just couldn’t get my sewing machine to do the buttonholes so I ended up attaching jeans buttons to the flaps so it looks like the pockets are closed. It’s not perfect but it does the trick 😂. Love your green bouclé and Nerida Hansen fabrics, what a beautiful combination 😍💞
Hi loved your video I also have the learn to fit course I have put it away as it seemed quite complicated. I will give it ago soon. Also this weekend I have caught up with my wips. Love the knitting seeing yours keeps me motivated.
Hi Christine. The black colorway looks good, but if you're not thrilled with it, check with Sam of Sew Let's Sparkle with Sam -- she got the pink colorway and is looking for a swap. It's great to see the TukTuk Dress made up. I've been intrigued by the pattern but not sure about making it. It looks great on you, Antonia
Hi Christine, ive been knitting for about w5 years and I really believe given all the work and love we put into hand knitted items deserves lovely yarn. I found the key to finishing garments was consistency . Even five rows per day will see your jumper grow. Also having a weekly group you attend is great for helping you stay focused. Ive been going to one for the last 9 years. I also try not to have to many garments on the go at the same time. I may have been only sewing since I retired but trust me we can accumulate WIPs with knitting as well! Love your makes and the Jacket by Maison Fauve looks interesting I will have to check this out! Have a great sewing and knitting week.
I think that fabric really suits you. The black background is sophisticated and then the bright colours really lift it and it looks good against your face.
Gorgeous dress 👗 that u’ve sewn hun but I can’t find the link for it 😞 & for the floral fabric defo the Pinta blouse 👚 I think it would look gorgeous on ya hun xxx
Your fabric is wonderful. I’ve seen the pink background and very much prefer the black background. A blouse would look great with black slacks for winter. Happy sewing. 🧵🪡🇦🇺
I really think the blouse would be amazing in that fabric. Could be worn with coloured jackets and cardigans to break the black. Love your new make too 🧡
Your fabric looks great with your colouring. It would be great in a Patina, one of my favourite patterns, although the Maison Fauive Atlas Dress is lovely. I think you are right about losing the pintuck detail with the busy fabric, though.
Your dress looks lovely. I bought that fabric and have just finished the Celeste dress from Itch to Stitch. The second one I've made, although it doesn't hang as nicely as the last one, which is linen. Out of your suggestions, I prefer the patina blouse, lovely fabric x
