Thanks for the demo. You're right the instructions is garbage. Who mixes metrics with SAE in their measurements? Also, the drawing on the left is crap..the artist has no idea of what perspective is. I went and bought this igloo latch on Amazon, thinking that it would spring open like the trunk of my car..I was wrong.
My safe's piston was so weak it wouldn't lift the door far enough to get my fingernail under the lid. Now it flies up. Highly recommend! apexstone.co/product/80n-8inch-gas-strut-for-gun-safe/

I have read that you should install the shock with the gas cylinder in the elevated position as well to both keep debris from collecting by the seal and to keep the lubricant down near the seal.
Get the bottom mounting point closer to the inner side, we needed to install them more vertically than horizontally. apexstone.co/soft-close-gas-springs-quickly-install/
@@APEXSTONE_ I ink Ibough the wrong size/length. My toy box lid i 24" wide and 60" long...very heavy. I bought the 7" Apexstone 80N and they are way to short to even come close to meeting the mounting instructions. Would you have a suggestion as to which size I should buy. I returned these two today. Thanks for any input you might provide
@@dashermike3207 Hello~Apexstone 7" 80N is lid support, they are not soft close hinges, suitable for cabinet doors. We recommend using 14.2" soft close hinges, they will work great for your lid size of 24"*60" if the lid weight is less than 22lbs. By the way, by installing vertically than horizontally, they will still work well in a lid lower than 33 lbs, but perform best for 22 lbs.
