That ball Venus questioned was well in . I think she could’ve believe Novotna ability to get to her winners ( shots that would’ve been winners against everyone else) . Venus is young here and her maturity level is where it’s at because Novotna shots keep coming back. She’s 18 but her father taught her that the world would hate them and when things go against her in her mind then boom , my father was right. No one cares about her color. There isn’t a player on the tour that feels they haven’t gotten a bad call. Even though , here, Venus dint receive a bad call. I’m watching this on a very big screen and both in question touched the line. Now the call against Serena vs capriati at open was a true rip off, Serena hit a backhand down the line a foot inside the line and sideline that the umpire over ruled as out. That umpire lost her job forever.
Rebecca! Your guests still wait for you Ten thousand lights can shine But darkness still remains No one else could ever be you Rebecca, come home, Rebecca! From the ocean depths Return to Manderley!
Astonishing to see how many years Venus made it to quarter finals, semi finals and finals of this tournament. She's truly thee grass court specialist of her generation. My opinion of course
just came to say, that move novotna does @3:12 play is sick af. all the nonsense aside..that move was cat like reflexes sexy. okay sure it's practiced but damn.
Venus still had the class to shake the umpire's hand. A LOT of other players would not have. Shoutout to Novotna tho, I didn't know it at the time, but beating Venus Williams AND Martina Hingis in the same grand slam tournament? That is some epic stuff, also when both were playing fantastic tennis, Hingis at her best and Venus at the height of her physical powers.
Tracy just says random shit half the time... she also said Kruger had a stronger forehand then backhand which wasn't true her backhand was her weapon by far
Hi, I'm sorry if I bother you, thank you very much for your beautiful tennis videos. Please don't you also own the matches of Jana Novotná or Petr Korda and their achievements, I have been looking for them for a long time, but no one wants to show her success in Wimbledon 1998 or the Australian Open 1998. Thank you very much in advance for your answer and above all I wish you good health. Best regards Dominik :)
In the old days, they used to call the way Jana played from the baseline being a "spoiler". Mixing up spins and pace to break down the opponent's rhythm
Watching this match again, you can see how Jana had matured as a match player. I Think she sensed she had a nervous opponent and just bided her time, playing a very steady match and waiting for her moment.
Loved Novotna. Her game and her nature. RIP Jana. Strange that when Hingis lost her cool she was labeled a "spolt brat" but when Venus looses it, it's cos she's young!!! There are loads of previous matches that swung on a "dodgy call" it's part of any game, no umpire, lines person etc are fool proof🤷
So sweet, so vulnerable, with such a powerful and entertaining game. My favorite. Her victory at Wimbledon is one of the great stories of sport. RIP, kiddo.
After the first three games, one could have been guilty of thinking that this could be a 6-0 6-0 match for Pierce. But Hingis really showed how she could adjust her game so well and started hitting harder and earlier, and going for the lines more. Mary's issue as a player was that she was single-gear and had a hard time adjusting if she wasn't in control of a point.
