I felt like the suicide example can be universalized. If you are deciding to end your life given the current circumstances, you would be able to do so even if others in the same circumstances also did it. I found an article that provides potential clarification... myweb.ecu.edu/mccartyr/GW/SuicideExample.asp ... on why Kant used this example, but it doesn't fail the test in the same manner as the false promise example.
