i don’t think some people realise how close britain truly is to france, on a nice day you can literally see it from dover also massive respect to all the french soliders who stayed behind and sacrificed their lives so the british could retreat
Such an incredible film and the 3 different time frames in air (1 hour), sea (1 day) and land (1 week) was so cleverly done. The use of the Elgar piece of music blended into the score at the end makes me cry every time. I would say, I'd love you guys to watch Apple TV's Masters of the Air, made by the same team as Band of Brothers and The Pacific about the US 100th Bomb group. It took it a couple of episodes for me to get in to it, but it was a powerful series.
1:48 I too saw this by myself in theaters and loved it and then went on to read all the graphic novels and taught myself guitar to learn the Sex Bob Omb songs
Your being overly harsh on the military. If the evacuation fails with civillian boats, you still have your navy to defend the island while you train more men If the evacuation fails with military ships, you have now also lost those. And the military is the one who requestiined the cilillian boats. So saying the military didnt try to rescue them is inaccurate.
25:28 A destroyer is woth more then a civillian baot. And the Navy fid try to crew the boats themselves. Many people just decided to sail their boats theirselves. Plus, civillian boats cant sink Nazi transports. A destroyer can.
I love Nolan but Dunkirk is his worst film imo... Dunkirk is way to clean and not gritty Dunkirk was a mess the beach was FULL of destroyed shit etc overcroweded etc.... sadly terrible film....
the most anti-war movie I've ever seen is All Quiet on the Western Front. it won the Oscar for a reason. but its harshhh and pretty hard to watch. but its such a powerful film and a powerful book and really well made. its supposed to be anti-war and I think it does its job.
This is one of the greatest IMAX experiences to date. The camera work was intense, the score was anxiety inducing, and I loved the use of time in this. It took a little while until you really grasp the concept they use, but once you recognize it you can see where paths intersect. This movie is very re-watchable and easily one of my favorite war movies. It wasn't very gory/bloody, but I still feel this movie did an amazing job capturing the absolute fear and hysteria that so many faced. Imagine being trapped on a beach, out in the open, without anywhere to go while planes randomly come by and drop bombs/spray bullets. I adore this movie for the fact that it does a solid job depicting real events and really shows the horror of war where people literally just lose hope even though they were so close to home. Phenomenal movie.
This is a trope. A storytelling device. Legends of Tomorrow not only does not own it, they are not even the first to do it either. Only someone who is either a salty fanboy or has not read or watched many stories would be brave enough to say something like this. Based on your own logic, Marvel did MCU crossover events first and the CW shows are cringe bs that no one should watch. I mean in any case they are cringe bs, but i'd not say just doing crossover events are enough of a reason, but apparently you think that.
This movie is incredibly inaccurate historically but I think it’s true that Nolan was going for the “vibes” more than anything. And he did an amazing job
