Hi my name is William. I'm an absolute petrol head. I own a 98 4runner and its my pride & joy. Come along and join me for the build and the fun i have with it.
Thank you for the video! It really helped me pop my digital clock back into place when after it got sucked in from pushing the buttons to hard whike setting it.
Damn, you actually did this from scratch. They sell entire premade kits already, just plug and play. You basically did everything the manufacturer should’ve done. But great “step, by step, by step, by step” tutorial. I’m sure a bunch of people will references this video. They even have fuse kit adaptors too.
Dude you don't buy a 4runner for gas mileage. That naturally goes out the window when you buy one. Try a Land cruiser...The age is what makes it cooler as well in my opinion.
Question for ya! What fuse did you end up connecting to? I have a 92 4Runner and haven’t been able to figure out what fuse I should connect to, in order to have them running all time.
I’m confused, how can you tell apart a 3rd gen that has a rear locker as opposed to a center diff locker? Do the ones with the center diff locker have that little picture in between the gauges and the rear locker ones only have the locker button to the side, but no picture aside from the one on the bottom right of the cluster gauge? Thanks for the video!
The rear diff locker says “rear diff” under the button, 4 wheel drive Low locks the center diff which puts it in real 4x4, the 4WD button on the side just puts it in AWD which is 70% power to the front and 30% power to the rear which you can use on slippery conditions/ rain or on the road
hank you for the amazing video. I just got a new 98 4runner. The 4WD would engage (solid green light) but to disengage after pressing the button the green light stay solid nothing happens right away but later after driving awhile there would be a BIG bang (shakes the car) and it disengages. Any guidance on what the problem is?
@@805Drive Nice, i just picked up a 97 trd with 250k on the chassis with a new transmission and rebuilt motor. have u taken yours on a lot of road trips? in the snow? if so, has it ever like broken down in the middle of the road trips or any problems you may have faced? Just curious sorry for the storm of questions haha
It’s never left me stranded. I take good care of it. Just changed the timing belt @180k oil change ever 3k. We actually just got back from Tahoe. Works great on the trails & in the Snow. There’s a bit of rust coming through on the roof which I’ll be getting repaired within the next couple of months.
Cant wait to try this! Looms awesome. Do you think someone like myself who's trying to do their own installs could do it? I've never done anything like it
