It's even more odd than you think: all the copies of the deluxe ACE edition Dune in this edition (so, just Dune, not the trilogy) have far darker blue edge than the Dune books you have shown in the videos. And I am not only talking of the Dune books I saw in person, but also those reviewed onlyne. It may be that the ones that went into the box set, were a bad batch.
Man im torn lol ive been trying to decide for days now on a blade upgrade for shape ups and line ups design etc from babyliss which one would you recommend?
lol been there. So before I attempt to answer this let me qualify myself by saying that I have the babyliss fx3 trimmer, the wahl hi viz, and TPOB X trimmer. The wahl hi viz and TPOB X cut like a laser. And I’m 95% sure that TPOB blades are compatible with babyliss trimmers. If that’s true, then try the TPOB blade on your babyliss (either the Gold “psycho” blade or their regular graphene “psycho” blade). I’ve found that the gold blades (which are coated in titanium or DLC or something like that) glide across the skin much smoother than a black graphite blade. That’s why my babyliss fx3 trimmer with its gold blade has been the best bald head shaving experience for me ever bc of how comfortable and smoothly it glides across my head. But it will not cut as closely as the TPOB or wahl. I tried to zero gap it very close but it ends up scratching. So I’d go with a gold blade replacement if I was you. I know babyliss makes some but I haven’t tried them so I can’t speak to them. I can speak to the TPOB psycho blade though and feel like that one might give you the results you want to see. If not then you can always return it if you’re buying from Amazon.
I have a Problem with the dustjacket were the pictur goes of if you touch it to long, so I have fingerprints on the dustjacket were the pictur is gone.
Oh no. I think it's because of the waxy texture of the dust jackets. For me, there are tiny little clear air bubbles, or small spots of clearness. With all 3 box sets I got, each set had these small clear markings. I guess that's just a byproduct of the waxy/textured dust jackets. I really like the dust jackets tbh. How they look and feel. I do not read these ones however. I bought the mass market paperback trilogy for reading.
@@iconikreviews5377 yes the Dustjacket is like 50% the reason for buying the book, as I lookd at it with less light the pictur is not gone were the fingerprint is, but the surface there is so reflectif that it becomes hard to see wehn there is to much direkt light, so I am going to send this one back and order a new one were I will remove the dustjacket until I read the book so I can Display it in good shape wehn I am done.

I disagree with everything you said. Most people approve this Deluxe edition. You should know that quality is not that great. If you actually nice book a limited editions
Agree with your rant particularly given the cost you paid (that these were jacked up to). These probably should be considered a typical hardback printing (not deluxe) and come with that pricing - ~$25 each. I have this copy of Dune and fwiw it is a nice "reading" copy in that the book itself lays nice and open while reading. I'm not fighting to keep it open which tends to happen with paperback and some hardbacks. If you have money laying around and are looking for super premium books, check out the folio society. They include some nice painted images in their versions. But you will pay for it. Dune by itself is around $150 (it is beautiful tho). Enjoy your collecting!
@@iconikreviews5377 Before I got this, I used a wax warmer(from good will), and a can of barbersol with aloe. Used a little water and mixed it. It worked fine, but it didn’t look professional in the barbershop!
The only barbers that would keep this after reviewing it would be barbers that are wahl fanatics. I personally know wahl fanatics that junked this product after a week. And btw the Hi-viz is also junk compared to other brands trimmers. A great trimmer for home use would be the jrl 2020t for only $99
Yeah this lather machine is not something I’d recommend at this price. I bought it for myself but I sent it back and so relieved. But the hi viz is my top beard trimmer after testing out 7 other ones. You can be laser accurate. The babyliss fx3 is my go to head shaver.
Bruh take the video down lol.. standard Blade is 1.6mm vs 1.2mm for the fine. You're trying to reliably eye 0.4mm gtfoh. Deep tooth is 2.0mm. If you want to eagle eye it, compare the deep tooth to the fine. The standard will be in between the two

I could listen to you rant about books for ever, I'm the same as you. If it ain't perfect, send it back. I'm based in the UK and an avid fantasy reader. Unfortunately UK publishers have a habit of printing books with the most bland cover you can imagine. (look up Stormlight Archive US covers vs the UK ones and you'll see what I mean) So I ordered all the hardcovers in the US TOR editions, one of them arrived damaged and I was pissed, £40 for that one book alone because of shipping cost, called the company and they said I can just keep it for free got a full refund. The next day I looked at the book and I decided it was fine, slapped a mylar protector over it and called it a day. It's on my shelf now and the mylar sheet covers the imperfections. So I got a £40 book for free. -- Do NOT be afraid to complain people. It's their job to give you replacements. Purchase from a seller, NOT Amazon. Amazon will make you return the item and take months to give you a refund, just contact the seller. I had my refund within 5 days.
In my experience amazon customer service is world class. They’ll give a refund AND send a replacement. Best customer service in the world imo. Maybe they have different principles in the UK I don’t know, but I wouldn’t advise ppl not to buy books off amazon. Book selling was how they got their start before blowing up into what they are now. Not every book I’ve ordered from them has been bad and remember they’re just a distributor not the publisher. If a book arrives damaged doesn’t necessarily mean it’s their fault every time. Btw thanks for the comment. I feel I was too harsh on these as I look back now. I just think their regular price is quite high and that’s why I ranted so much about them but I don’t want to give ppl the impression that they’re crap bc they’re not. I would just advise buying them on sale unless money is no object and you love the dune franchise and are an avid reader.
@@iconikreviews5377 Amazon in the UK operates poorly. Books are inadequately packaged, often placed in cardboard boxes that are either too large or too small, resulting in damage during delivery. Purchasing books from Amazon is not a pleasant experience. Amazon UK is ineffective. For instance, I purchased a Samsung phone from Amazon, returned it, and although they acknowledged receiving it, I have yet to receive a refund after three months. Strangely, the box purportedly containing the "phone" actually held shaving balm or a similar product. This was a purchase directly from Amazon, not a third-party seller, indicating a clear mistake on their part, yet they have not refunded my money.
Hey buddy Firstly this was exactly the video I was looking for after literally sitting through loads over the Christmas period,trying to find the fine tooth variant over in England is pretty hard . Like yourself I have the fx trimmer but haven’t got either of the blades you have so I’m now thinking of the gold blade as again I use this to shape and out line my beard so how do you find the gold blade in comparison? Then you mentioned the whal 🤪 do you find this superior to the fx with either blade? All the best from over the pond and thanks for the review
No problem! Well I haven’t used those blades personally but the difference is evident in just the names themselves. So the graphite ones are one of the more cheaper blade materials that they sell. And the DLC which stands for something like “diamond-like coating” is a more premium version of the blade. They are supposed to also last longer and stay sharper for longer. They are usually coated in a gold titanium (but I think they can be black too) and I can tell you they feel a lot smoother and glide across the skin much nicer. The usual black or graphite blades tend to feel more like they drag across the skin and just feel somewhat like they are sticking to my skin. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Oh, just remembered! I have my own story about Dune. I ordered from a analogue of Amazon in my country 6 Dune books in one big book, with more than 50% discount because of a cut on the cover. But they didn't deliver it for some unknown reason. So I still haven't read it... 📖
Oh no! I hope you got your money back or perhaps you can pick up the dune books for cheaper during these holiday sales. I have an interesting update since I posted this video: As I said before, the 3rd box set that arrived was in perfect condition which was a relief. So naturally my responsibility was to return the first 2 box sets back to Amazon and I did exactly that. Guess what? They treated one of those box sets as a full refund instead of a replacement. I have no idea why. So I basically got this box set for free.

Hi, yes for the cost of this box set there shouldn’t be any colour defects or imperfections. I probably ranted too much in my video but I was just angry bc they are cheaply made yet so expensive. Aside from that though they aren’t as bad as I initially thought. They look amazing on the shelf. I bought this box set in paperback as well for reading. I enjoy collecting nice books and displaying them.
Glad this video helped. That’s why I made it. Well, the fine tooth blade is made of graphite which is more on the cheaper side of babyliss’s blade offerings. The gold one is coated in gold titanium and DLC so they are supposed to stay cooler. Other than that they are the same and that annoys me. The fine tooth blade should be smaller but it’s the same as the standard tooth. In all my testing so far of many trimmers (about 7 different models and brands), 6 of them all have the same blade design. The only different one is the wahl hi viz. I’m a huge fan of its blade. It is super thin and narrow/precise. It is the closest thing to a wet shave in electronic trimmer form. I just tested the stylecraft saber today, and I have the TPOB X and TPOB ghost x coming tomorrow. The more trimmers I try the more I realize how special the wahl hi viz is.
@@iconikreviews5377 there’s some really good trimmers in the ones you have mentioned , one that came up as being very smooth is the cyborg , I left comments on here with various barbers that have used both the hi viz and the cyborg and all so far have said the cyborg interestingly. At £230 and £200 each I can’t justify both & I’m not sure you can return once these items have been tested by simply picking one or the other. I also have the wahl detailer cordless (maroon colour) and the blades on that are super smooth (compared to my baByliss skeleton) so maybe this is trademark of wahl, the hi viz is quite out there and very different for wahl from what I’m reading in it as most people say there are old school company , with other companies like saber there units being more advanced… obviously after reading your findings I’m still none the closer to deciding which to go for😂😂 also you have no alliances to any companies just a regular guy picking the best unit.
Hey, I got a black one with gold logo just like yours. Mine is fleeced inside tho. I read some reviews saying that the fleece comes off or the logo falls off. Is that true or they are just as reliable as their classic ones?
Update: I got a 3rd replacement and the blue pages are perfect. So lucky! No ugly fading like the first 2. All uniform in colour. Sorry if I ranted too much in my video. The dust jacket on the first Dune book still has the bubbling issue. But what are ya gonna do? I don’t have the energy or patience for a 4th replacement. I bought the Dune paperback box set for reading. These hardcovers will stay looking new on my shelf as I don’t want to handle them too much.

Happy the 3rd replacement was good enough for you, I ordered my 3 books separately and only had an issue with Dune Messiah in which my dust jacket had a sticky residue on it, it cleaned off well enough but I complained anyway and Amazon issued a refund without a return. They seem to have goofed though and issued a full refund for the entire order, so I got all 3 books free it seems.
Oh. I personally wouldn’t be into that. As long as you are reading and enjoying it is all that matters. I just started reading The Godfather then I will prob go back into LOTR or perhaps book 1 of Dune.

If you want a nice edition of Dune you should definitely check out the Folio edition. The quality is excellent and it's full of some great artwork. They just released Dune Messiah recently.
I have trilogy in one book, which is very old and planning to buy again, is it worth buying these or some other editions, or should I go for the normal edition for the next trilogy?
Your call. I was probably a little too negative in the video. Tbh they look really nice and great on the shelf. I bought the paperback trilogy which I’ll be reading while these are a collector item for me personally. If you love the franchise and you’re an avid reader go for it. If you can find them on sale then even better. I do think their regular price is high but up to you.
Are you talking about the crappy Gollancz bonded leather one? Cheap materials in that. I had it for about 1 month before it started falling apart and I'm not the type of guy to mistreat his books.

Yes it is amazing I got 2 and pair them together for more coverage throughout the house and was a fantastic deal. Since buying the jacked the price another $100 but luckily I got a good sale price
