Hey. Welcome to Pawpaw did it again, Where we do pretty much what ever the hell we want. So subscribe, like, share, all that cool stuff below the video, it really helps me out so I know what kind of stuff to do. I like to get into things in the town I live in, Shreveport, the State I live in, Louisiana and beyond. Kayak, Camp. sooner or later we are going to touch on something you find interesting or cool. I like to do projects around the house, outside on the wooden spool in the back yard. If its something I think is cool, I'll do it for the first time on a video even if it is a failure. Not in any way am I trying to be an expert on anything on this channel. Just love having a good time. What can I say, I really enjoy making videos. Give me a watch. Maybe you will find something you like on here. I try to categorize Videos into play list to make it easier for you to find what you might enjoy. There is plenty more to come. I'm just getting started here.

I know less than you Mr Darrin about bees I would like to suggest that I don't see any flowers or a garden near your bee hives Longer grass also produces extra pollen. Stay hydrated Sir. Great content and humor

Buy acorn inserts you can pick how much wax they add. They draw out the heavy coated inserts from acorn as fast as frames I put extra wax on. they also have extra coated on top of the heavy coated inserts.

I'm not sure what time of year this video is, but I'm wondering if you should remove the top box. It has very few bees and nothing going on. You don't want them to have to defend a box with nothing in it.

Awesome job man. Looking a lot better now. The only other advice about frames I would give u is this. When checkerboarding like u did with the empty frames make sure u don’t put a empty frame beside a full honey frame they will draw the comb from full frame over towards empty frame and u will end up with the huge frames of honey like u already have experienced, making it hard to almost impossible to pull the frame without making a huge mess. That all being said think of a rainbow that is what a hive setup should be like. Below the rainbow in the open space should be brood from the rainbow (above and beside should be resources. To explain, in a deep I will have honey frames against both walls with the inner frames being brood frames. I will reorganize frames to fit this design. I’ve found that the bees work better and overwinter better, because the honey on the outer walls acts as a thermal barrier.

You might not have waxed the frames enough. It is very tricky. Basically have to trick the bees into thinking the wax has been laid down by a bee so they complete the cell. Otherwise, they will just build on the frame instead of completing the frame.

Waxed scraps of cloth can be used as natural food wrappers for things like cheeses, breads or other items that need to be sealed from air contact. I use them quite often in my living history demonstrations. Old linen napkins makes a fine base for wax wraps.

Hey Darren, make sure to use real bees wax to coat your frames, I've used some bought was that the bees don't like to draw on, also certain foundations have different size starter holes the bees don't like, its mostly on the cheap foundations. good luck.
@jerryg.5923
@jerryg.5923 Месяц назад
Those problem frame foundation are not in the slots in the frame itself, foundation should lay flat not bowed like it is. It also looks like your foundations don't have enough wax on them to start with. Bees generally don't like drawing comb on plastic anything. You remedy this by getting REAL beeswax from a local supplier (not off Amazon). melting it down and using a low nap paint roller just roll it on. Cover the whole foundation, it doesn't really matter if you fill the hexes in the plastic because the bees will move it around. I started with those Beecastle hives too, they are made in China and have no where near the required wax on any of the foundations. Rewax them and stager them around the bees will draw them out. The reason not off Amazon is because whats being sold there as beeswax is really parrafin wax, incidentally that's whats covering your hive deeps. Bees don't like parrafin since its petro based. Probably by next season your hive bodies will need to be painted too.

the reason they are making your comb all jacked up is because u don’t have the inserts in the slots correctly they are bowed in the center, look at around 11:00-11:30 u can see it bowed out completely. One messed up like that will make them all jacked up
@countryroadsoutdoors7854
@countryroadsoutdoors7854 Месяц назад
And after watching further into the video u have multiple messed up inserts in your upper deep. Do u even have the correct type of frames? U should have a grooved top and grooved bottom on your frame for the type of inserts you are using. Your inserts should be completely flat.

You may find the reason they've been so productive is because you've been feeding them sugar water constantly. I think you'll find the nectar and honey in your frames isn't actually nectar, it's sugar water honey. They really need to get out and forage for themselves in order to make genuine honey. Can't help with your frames as I've never used plastic foundation. Never had that problem with wax.
@lisan8897

@BucketListBees

You have two deeps and a super on top. To much room. I am going to add. Hold two frames together. See the space?? Bees walking on the foundation take up 1/4 inch. Bees on both sides take up 1/2 inch leaving the correct bee space. Again you have too much space for the amount of bees. Before you add the second box the bees should boil out when you take the cover off. Then add the second deep. It’s not the foundation the beekeeper.
@LuckyCrownHoney
@LuckyCrownHoney Месяц назад
Also, I’ve been told that if you don’t want the bees building the “eyebrows” of their wax out super thick, and not building on the empty frame, it’s better to put the empathy frame up against a brood frame, as they can only build those out so far since it can only be a certain size for brood to develop. Hopefully that makes sense.
@LuckyCrownHoney

Are you using self spacing frames and butting them right up to one another. If not you will have more than the recommended bee space and will end up with lots of bur comb and frames with deeper combs of honey, like your fat one. See if you can fit one more frame in your brood box to take up the extra space. If your frames arent self spacers you can buy plastic spacers to slide on the frames so they ensure you have the correct space between each frame.

I just started a package this week so I am no beekeeper but I have watched a lot of RU-vid. A few things I noticed, the bees building was kind of strange. They built in the top but did not fill out the bottom so they did not have a uniform hive. The white stuff is chalk brood I am pretty sure which is not a big deal so far as I know. I think the bees resources were too spread out and they probably slowly died off. When they did of starvation oftentimes they will die with their heads deep in the cells. They could have just flown off but not likely late in the year. You should keep the frames as is and the bees will just finish off what was started.
@pawpawdiditagain2654
@pawpawdiditagain2654 3 месяца назад
I got the bees in a nuc box so they get pretty cramped in there before they sell them. That's why they built up on the frame like that. It will straighten its self out over time. I did save the full frames of comb. The ones I cleaned off had very little comb on it. Thanks for the view. I wish you the best with your bees.
@randomthoughtsfromacrazedm3372
@randomthoughtsfromacrazedm3372 3 месяца назад
What I mean is the bottom box was not totally filled out. Looking back at one of your past videos, they were doing very well. But they were building in too many boxes. So when winter came, they could very easily starve in a cold spell because they have to cluster together and cannot get to food. In any case, you know not to spread them out this time so you will probably have more success.@@pawpawdiditagain2654

@pawpawdiditagain2654
@pawpawdiditagain2654 3 месяца назад
It does smell like the pheromones' that cause the bees to sting. It is a certain chemical in the banana that that is the same as that pheromone, isopentyl acetate, But there is not enough in a single banana to trigger that reaction from the bees.

I just reproofed my Outback hat with Outback Duck Back dressing and I found that a little bit goes a long way. I used only about 25% as much as you did and found that it covered the hat quite well and seems almost over oily to me. I have had the hat about 4 years and this is the first time I have put dressing on it. I am letting it set overnight to see how it comes out. I also did a light dressing of my Outback baseball cap and it came out perfect. Just a small daub on my finger and worked it in. Did this about 10 times and covered everything nicely and looks like it did when I got it new from Outback.
