Yikes, I know they briefed it but the Pilot Monitoring just reaches up without a pause or confirmation from Pilot Flying and yanks that condition lever back! Slow down lads, identify and wait for PF to confirm before hauling levers about. And I know it was great to see the Auto Throttle panel but it would have been good to have a video of the engine instruments as the system worked.
Pratt and whitney boasts over 100 million flying hours on the PT6 since it’s inception. How is setting power on a PT6 all of the sudden creating elevated work loads?
This would have saved lives when that crazy old geezer Vmc'd the KA in Addison. Vmc protection on this is slick. Not sure if this will end up being another crutch for the slew of low-time "pilot shortage" nimrods the industry is seeing right now or not.... Very excellent piece of kit, and if I owned a KA this would be on it. Really nice! Excellent demo Mr. Tobias, thank you.
Yeah that is weird but it makes me think he did for demo purposes or the auto throttle provides some sort of v1 protection. Honestly I have no clue on the matter.
Very impressive! Of course, I see a lot of the functionality found in the Eclipse 500/550, but this is very nice as a retrofit for the PC-12. Will IS&S be making this available in other turbine class single engine airplanes? When I was back in Pennsylvania, we had a young lady come work for the company I was employed with, and she had been a previous employee with IS&S. Right now, I would gladly have traded places with her. You guys are really doing some great work.
