I had a diagnosis of a neoplasm in my pancreas duct. Two different gastroenterologists wanted to do a Whipple on me. The main g.i. doctor said I will outlive the neoplasm. Also the feature of having 4 plus IPMNs and the associated malignancy…is this relevant if the patient does not otherwise have worrisome features? Also at 9:27, those 52 patients with 4 plus cysts, did they otherwise show worrisome features, why did they have surgery ? The report mentions incidental BD IPMNs in asymptomatic patients….and 90% of incidental cysts are less than 3 cm in size which means they didn’t have the criteria for worrisome feature but yet 4% to 10% have been found to have concurrent pancreatic ductal carcinoma?
