Awesome flight! And I agree it is wild to get such an adrenaline rush while sitting still. This is great inspiration as I gear up to fly one of the 14k ft mountains here in Colorado in about 2 weeks. Cheers!
are you using anything to make the signal on your goggles better? i use to test my range on analog but i get pretty nervous when it starts to get blocky
I lost my first drone in a lake near my home about 100 meters out from the shoreline. Every time I go back for a walk that feeling of loss is as raw as it was on day one. As a long range pilot I expected to lose a drone every once in a while but it still hurt when it happened. A gps unit is a must for long range but not always helpful because it can serve as a “so close yet so far” reminder.
Look of old Kodak Tungsten 5219 film I used to work with.. Big grain but nice shadows. Great color grading! My thought is there is a fpv legend of shooting with low shutter speed to get lot of motion blur but the cost is all the frame details are also little bit out of sharpness caused just by relatively long exposure for such a speed and vibrations, nd filters sellers don't mention that, I belive 25 or 30fps with 1/50 shutter speed is a esthetical myth like bokeh hipe in photography but maybe I'm wrong, just thinking..
For more real estate up top. I fly with two 6s 21700 packs and had a hard time getting the GoPro tilted enough back with the top mount. Also getting the camera ever so slightly closer to the ground
It was so nice to watch. Some days are just like that, I did the same couple times 😅 but it was still fun. What motors are you using on your 7,5 inch and 7 inch.
I guess I would use some kind of rubberised glue that won’t turn completely hard but stays a bit flexible. I Also use loctite repair extreme for a lot of cases like this.
Haha Yeah that’s great but I don’t think anyone would get close enough to get a signal, no one goes here, of course as long as it is still attached it might’ve given me a better chance up there searching, but hey, everything helps huh? 😅
@ArcticriderFPV hmm... you could fly a cell phone up to the area and it would register the ping on map. Pretty sure that would work. Have to test the theory.
nice flying ! need to ask, i only get 15 mbps at 4km ... same antennas as you(iflight crystal hd)! do you use manual channel mode ? 40 mhz ? 20 mhz ? stubbies on top or bottom? what antennas on the drone ? thanks !!
No manual channel I don’t think. Patches are on the bottom. Got the iFlight 150mm antennas on my drone for video feed. Bardpole and Immortal-T for crossfire.
Thanks, it’s a rocket v3 540 13.5T with a Hobbywing quickrun 10bl120. It works fine, I would rather go for a higher turn motor, 17.5 2300kv. The 13.5 gets really hot, even with a 11t pinion and 54t spur.
@@Jfercho it’s not the OSD, what is in the video is from a program called Telemetry Overlay where I input data from my GoPro and DVR from goggles to make this info screen that you see.
Hello! This terrain is so beautiful and scary :P May I ask, why only 12 min flight time with 8.000 mah lions?? I only ask because I see videos with way more flight time! Thanks!!!
You may ask 😄 Do they also climb 1500 meters with full size gopro and travel at 90km/h? Also temperature and wind will cause differences in flight time. I could føy longer as I have 1000-2000mah left kn the packs but I was pretty much done flying when I had returned, always better to have some left than not making it back :)
I'm guessing we had some condensation vibes going on... did you pregame your drone in a cozy car before liftoff? Got me wondering 'cause I'm gearing up for some serious Alpine action this winter. And hey, big ups, my dude! Witnessed someone touch down in Angle mode for the first time! The landing game had me sweating bullets, but now I know it's all good in Angle mode. Solid move, man!
Pregame? I mostly keep my drones and batteries inside the car before flight so Yeah they are kind of warm. Air would chill them down going up, but camera and electronics Also heat up internally when flying. There was rain/slush/snow up near the clouds that’s why the lens got covered. Haha Thanks Yeah I find it a bit easier to land LOS in angle mode, safer as well.
You really pushed those iflight crystal patches not even to its limits yet. Lots of naysayers saying it doesnt give a decent range. This flight of yours destroyed those claims. Great flight vid! This is why we fly - for those adrenaline shakes haha
Haha true! Can’t wait for the long winter nights to be over so I can go fly again! Yeah the iFlight antennas should be good enough for the 13km hard limit.
I don’t think any of it would help really. Either battery would be dead before I could get up there, or in case of the air tag it would need people with iPhones to pass by it (hoping that it is still attached to the drone) and even then no one goes up there where it fell down! Best thing would have been to have a gps-rescue capable drone that would have returned when signal was lost.
I think what you're talking about is using the led pads to create a soft serial port and using the gps on that, the issue with soft serial is that it uses cpu time to process and it works, but I guess it's not ideal
What kind of loser sits around alone in a cold parking lot risking $5000 in gear like this, just to go up and look at snowy animal tracks?? A loser like ME, that's who! Sign me up, MAN this is a neat hobby. I thought I was learning and having fun with the DJI Avata, but I gotta get into this kit! Do you have a video where you explain what makes this possible? Thanks :)))
Had me in the first half! Not gonna lie 😂 No unfortunately not, lots of useful videos out there and the drones and gear is constantly evolving. I will still reccomend crossfire for transmitter protocol and would probably go for air unit O3, but the original air unit is still holding strong. Also get a big lithium ion pack, I am currently flying 8000Mah 6S packs.
Hey great vid! Question tho, how are you getting such good mbs at that range? I have dji goggles 2 and I just took my drone about two miles out and I was getting less than 10mbs and at risk for losing video
Good question, how many Watts are you transmitting video on your system? If going really long you probably need to go as high as possible, also always have Line of sight to the area you are flying to
It’s a blast for sure! Never a dull moment and so much adrenaline feeling like you’re flying yourself, and the awereness that one little mistake will get really expensive!
Absolutely, man! I feel you on that. Flying with my DJI FPV was cool and all, but that genuine flying vibe was always hampered by the stress of those darn short battery life issues and those annoying signal hiccups. It's like, come on, let me spread my wings without worrying every minute, you know? Super stoked to kick off with a drone that's a legit cruiser, where I can finally soak in the pure joy of the flight without all those headaches! Can't wait to catch those smooth skies and really savor the freedom up there!@@ArcticriderFPV
So, did this happen because the radio power was only 250 mW instead of the full 1W? My question is, why dial down the power in the first place? I'm genuinely curious, not being snarky. Personally, I'd probably keep it at 1W all the time, but I'm guessing that's not the usual practice, right? I'm in the process of learning since I plan to get this drone, so that's why I'm asking.
When doing testing or tuning on my drone inside on my desk, I usually put it to 25mW. Also 1W used a lot of power compared to lower settings so if you are just bando bashing for hours but nearby 250mW might be more than enough, while also conserving some batterylife. My problem here was I forgot to turn it back up, and a lot more tbh. 😅
I'm sorry you couldn't locate your drone, but don't sweat it, it's not the end of the world. Your well-being is what matters most, after all. There will be plenty more drones in the sky. Plus, this adventure was a great way to have some fun and unwind. Keep on enjoying life, my friend! 😎
Totally get that vibe, man! That adrenaline rush is what propels us to push the limits, reaching new heights and cruising even farther! Keep soaring!@@ArcticriderFPV
Awesome, I had a blast watching this! I'm actually looking to get this drone too, so could you fill me in on the radio you're rockin'? Is it the Zorro? Or something else? Are you using the Ranger Nano module?
Hey! Thanks for watching and sorry for the late reply! I am flying with a Tango 2 crossfire controller, with a diversity crossfire nano receiver, I wouldn’t trust anything more than this. I Also have a TX16S with a crossfire module that I haven’t really been using much. Tango is so small and convenient
