Hi Varun, For DD national u can take 182.5 MHz as Central frequency. Use Yagi calculator to determine length of dipole , then in order to increase the directionality u may as multiple elements in Yagi. Also make sure to use quarter wave balloon before feeding signal to coaxial cable
Does analog terrestrial broadcasting still work in 2020? Can I receive both DD National and DD news as of April 2020 since I am thinking of making one for experimental purpose.

Good job .. In order to catch both DD news and DD national your impedance matching (quarter wave baloon) should be well designed, you can find its design online easily. Mixing of DD bangla with dd national could be due to local retransmission of these channel in time divisional basis
I live in Haryana, the time I was away to catch dd national and dd news. I am sure that with this design you should be able to catch these channels in Kolkata
You can use flat aluminium angles used in aluminium doors as elements.. no need of pipe. The boom could b non metallic material I used 25mm plastic pipe
Dear friend 90's kids .. thanks for your interest in this project. It's simple to make . Steps to make simplest antenna are : You can take a aluminium or any metal strip of length (lambda/4). Where lambda is wavelength of 184Mhz. Now divide this in two parts of equal size and connect through a coaxial cable to TV. You need to create quarter wave balloon from the same coaxial cable at point of connection of cable to antenna. There's plenty of info on how to make quarter wave balloon from coaxial cable on internet.
Sirji, I am from Kolkata. I miss my childhood days when I use to watch Bangladesh TV terristrial transmission with multiple element antenna and gain controller. I liked toying and fiddling with the gain controller most and it was a challenge for me to get a clear video. Lately I heard that Doordarshan has stopped terrestrial broadcast. Is that true ? I doubt. Also lately when I went to the electronics market to buy an indoor antenna I found that none of the shop have them. It would be great If you can make a video of the reception of a far-away station with a multi-element antenna along with a booster, flat cable (parallel) and balun transformer. 😊😊😊
Hello Anibaran .. yes I would like to post the video you mentioned in near future. In the mean time you may make one by Ur self keeping in mind the lambda/4 rule. The other elements would increase the gain and directivity of it.
