Thanks Ben. Hope you are both well. About 5 years ago I had a really soft landing when I fell into an enormous cow pat. That time I held on to the camera and pulled a quad muscle. This time I threw the GoPro away as I fell, no damage to me or the camera.
Hi Rachel. That was the first time I have actually had the fall filmed. Usually it is just a shot of bushes and flailing legs. I did try to convert this into a RU-vid short but the format was wrong even though I shortened the video. The HoverAir made a good job of keeping me in the centre of the frame. I was really impressed. It was a soft landing thankfully.
Hello Matt. My running is more or less limited to North East Essex, I live in the Colchester area. If you are interested in trail runs in those areas, then my channel has some lovely runs over the years and on many of the videos I put a map at the end. I might be able to provide you with a GPX file for some. If you are not in this area, you could do worse than try out the Essex Walks app which covers all of Essex with walking routes. I think you can try it for a month free. I have contributed a couple of routes there. Happy running mate.
@@essextrails thank you. Yes I am also near the Colchester area. Will have a look through the videos. If you think of one that would be a good starter do let me know . Thanks again
Well done Peter. Nice to hear you’ve had a break with your daughter and doing some filming with them. I’ve started to upload my family clips onto RU-vid now as I just don’t have the storage on my phone. I’m still not using a computer for any of my editing or video storage and was fed up of seeing ‘insufficient storage’ (Even though I have a small amount I pay for each month to try and give me a bit more) I uploaded every single video from my phone and then deleted them. If I need them back I can just screen record them. Just hope RU-vid doesn’t have a problem one day, and erases all its content 😮 One good thing from the drone shots is you were able to see your own running style. We often don’t run how we think we do. I spoke to a marshal from parkrun on Saturday and she thought I was running with a limp and that I was injured, I said no, I just run like that all the time 😁
Hi Rachel. Hope you are well. It was good to get out running with the camera again. You certainly produce some great videos without using a computer! Until recently I was using an old iPhone 6s with 32 Gb of storage for my everyday phone. I know what you mean about insufficient space. I have always known that my running style was a bit odd, I think the foot problem may have come from an injury in my teens. It is a nuisance because that is the foot I always catch on things and fall over. Don't worry about running with a limp, look at Paula Radcliffe's running style, you are in good company.
Welcome back peter. Thought you'd gone into hibernation !!! Lovely video as usual. Thought you'd got lost and were going round in circles. Love to you. X
Hi Janice. A combination of the weather, running with my neighbour and just sheer dithering about where to go to film meant that I haven't done much other than the Macc videos.
Good to see you back out and running with us again on RU-vid Pete. Sounds like you've been keeping yourself busy over the last couple of weeks mate. Lovely day for a run too. 😎🤘
Lovely run there mate. You've reminded me to take my spare camera battery with me in the morning. I also have a drone on my wishlist since seeing yours in action. Just waiting for it to fit the budget now 😅 You also reminded me that i made a vdeo just for the family, of our last holiday, which i haven't watched in a while. I'll dig that out 👍
Hi Mate. The new DJI Neo drone is half the price of my HoverAir drone and looks at least as good, probably better. It was good to get out and film a run again.
I was trying to spot benches at the end there 😃 Plenty of seats inside, thankfully. You do well knowing the names of all the church features. I'd be clueless in that regard.
There was actually a seat outside Mark, it didn't show on the video. I learnt the names of the features from the internet not being a churchgoer myself!
Looks a great walk Peter, tried to find a video of your from around Ingatestone as have a road race there on Sunday, done race before a couple of times but never seem to take in the views really, anyway could not find one but this stood out as was on the border with Suffolk. Must do the Colchester ones as been there last year with a friend for a walk but want to go back.
I don't think I have done any videos in the Ingatestone area. The Chappel area near Colchester is very nice. You could fly your drone in and out of the arches of the viaduct! Those churches at Alphamstone and especially Lamarsh were worth a visit. Hope you get a chance to film round here soon.
@@essextrails my work Colleague went there I think yesterday to a beer festival, we was looking at Google naps to see where station was compared to venue, will definitely add it to the list
Really enjoyed that video.. You really would not have enjoyed running on that path. It was very overgrown. Will be thinking of you on Thursday. Love to you. Xxx
Thanks Janice. There was a huge difference between February and late July on the same paths. At least I cut out the wade through the sewage this time. I am almost prepared for Thursday now. Hope you are both OK, love to you both. X
I'm still not sure which time of year I prefer for running on the trails. In winter I think summer, and vice versa! Hope you got back to the car in time mate.
Trails are always too overgrown for me in Summer Mark. I think a dry Spring or Autumn is ideal. I did make it back before the tide cut off the island, so I never needed plan B which was to have a pub lunch while I was stuck there.
Hi Alf you might be interested in My Macclesfield video. I restricted it to family and friends so you need this link. Enjoy your trip tomorrow. Pete. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hz4V4IwrmV4.html
That field of purple was stunning, Peter. I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend and wife. My partner has recently been diagnosed with dementia... If I didn't have my precious time out gardening and camping I wouldn't be able to cope right now. I hope you felt lighter after this excursion. Love the histories you give. Going to forage some nettles I found on an overgrown path last month for fertilizer today... 😊😊
Thanks Gemma. My wife was beginning to show some early signs of dementia so I do sympathise with you. It is so important to have that time out in nature or in the garden. I certainly felt better after the jog. Hope you made the fertilizer without getting stung too much.
Loved seeing your run through those fields and hearing your little history lesson on echium. Hope the jog brightened your day after a tough week, Peter! Those potato fields were a fun surprise - who knew, right? hehe. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure! Best wishes, dear friend!
Thanks Mihai. I certainly felt a lot better at the end of the jog. It was interesting how the edit made it sound like I didn't know on that day that potatoes flowered. I actually found out many years ago running across the local fields with a friend who was born in the countryside. Thanks for the comment my friend.
Lovely fields of purple to start the video off 👍 Running is always a good way to clear the head, hopefully, it worked for you Peter 👋 Crackin church by the way 😀
Beautiful colours in this run Peter and loving the drone shots, looking great. Good to know you can get out on these runs for a bit of headspace and mood lifting. Lovely paced video and very informative as always.
The drone shots really add a lot to the video again, Peter. Really nice. I'm glad to hear that you are finding ways to help deal with the more difficult days, mood wise. All the best mate.
Thanks Mark. There is no doubt that getting out there and running, jogging or walking is good for raising the spirits. Generally I am a pretty positive person, it is just the odd day or two.......
Nice content Peter love the info along the route, know what you mean about wheat tripping you up, we have same at Great Yarmouth north beach Parkrun we call it trippy grass, Peter - East Coast-UK
Thanks mate. It really doesn't take much to trip me up these days. The reactions slow down and before I know it I'm flat on the floor. On the plus side, I am not going fast enough to really hurt myself most times!
Another relaxing and interesting video mate. It was a bit scary when the tree/ ghost started talking to you 😅 I think we're enjoying this nice warm spell while it lasts. Your summer haircut is top notch 👍🌞
Hi Mark. That was an enjoyable walk. The tree ghost was a bit spooky, I started looking at the tree and could see all sorts of face shapes in the trunk. Still don't know what caused the interference on the camera though. This warm spell is currently too warm for us geriatrics. Fortunately the hair has started to grow back all over now! Take care mate.
Some stunning skies there and I love the mill and the brick viaduct. I shall have to try and explore the area for myself one day. Thank you for taking me along on this lovely walk. 😊😊
Hi Gemma. Yes this is one of my favourite areas. Its about 3 miles from home so I visit it quite often. There is always something new to see. I love observing the changing seasons. Thanks for watching.
Nice run Peter, I have ran part of route on the Clacton 10K a few times, even though I am close to Norfolk border in Suffolk prefer entering races in Essex. regards, Peter (East Coast-UK)
So glad you are going back to look at some of the ol;der stuff mate. I had some amazing runs which I put up a couple of years ago. Personal circumstance combined with old age have limited me a bit recently, but I will keep trying. All the best.
Yes I really did enjoy that walk Janice. Done it before several times but there is always something new to see. Hope you are both well. Love to you both. X
Lovely video Peter and really impressive piece of kit, it opens up so many new opportunities for some beautiful angles. I ran through Shire Tey a few weeks ago back to Marks Tey and it was a very pleasant surprise to see the path past the bluebell woods had been cut back, It would be great if it was the same story for the footpath opposite the Feering Falcons
Hi Dan. Hope you and the family are well. I am still impressed with the HoverAir, just like a kid with a new toy! I saw that the footpath had been cut back in the enclosed section of the bridleway before Shire Tey. That footpath to Elm Lane is not easy to walk on, let alone run. I usually avoid it and go along the farm track to come out by the barn. Sometimes I give the farmer a cheery wave, he doesn't seem to mind but it isn't a footpath and if he told me off I would apologise.
Thank you. I am just getting used to using the HoverAir. It is not a real drone, more of a flying selfie camera, but it will do most of what I need and it is so convenient. I always love getting out into the countryside. Best wishes and thanks again for the comment.
@@gamingtechtravelbutmostlygamin Hope you enjoy using the drone. I have taken mine out a couple more times and I'm working on a some more videos. All the best.
Those follow shots look really good. Like a movie scene. I'm starting to imagine my anxiety levels, were I to get a drone. I'd be checking over my shoulder every second to make sure it hadn't raced off into a bush!
Hi Mark. Fortunately the drone doesn't go very high on the follow modes and you have the reassurance of being able to hear the motors. It is quite a sturdy little thing, but if that ditch had been full of water, I think iit would have been game over. Thanks for watching, hope you are well.
Hi Janice, hope you are both well. I am a bit upset again as my old mate Ron died a couple of days ago. I am trying to get out with the drone for a few walks and runs. It doesn't get any easier though. Love to you both. X
Glad to see the drone survived it's few crashes mate. The cage on the props is a great feature. Is it easily repairable if you do manage to smash some bits? Great run Pete. 😎🤘
Hi Ben. I really don't know about availability of spare parts. I think there is a repair service but I hope I wont have to use that (at least for a while). I think the drone can take a few knocks with those shielded props, but I am not too sure about the gimbal. It seemed so vunerable that I bought a little cover for it on ebay. Thanks for watching mate.
Hi Janice. It was good to get a chance to test out the functions of the drone. It is a nice bit of kit and super easy to use. Damn mosquitoes are everywhere these days and always seem to have a taste for me. Hope you are both well. X
Loved all your new shots Peter. How was it all with the initial set up and the ease of getting it all going? I’m guessing it was your phone that it was connected to or did it have a controller? Whenever I see a video with lots of cool drone shots it always makes me wish I had one 😁
Hi Rachel. The reason I bought this drone is just that it doesn't need a controller, it stores video in its own internal memory (phone not needed in flight) and all of its flight modes are programmed in (and adjustable to some extent). It flies itself. I think that you can fly it using your phone, but my experience with grandchildren's video games tells me that I won't be able to do that! It is very light at about 125g and foldable. Video quality is OK at 2.7k at 30 fps but obviously not as good as as "proper drone". I had a birthday and Father's Day and Amazon had a special offer on it so I bought one. Initial set up was very easy. You do need a phone to download updates (which is very worth doing as there have been some great firmware updates). It has limitations (eg it wont fly above about 50ft high) but for me the ease of use and storage outweigh them. Some great reviews on RU-vid.
@@essextrails - thanks for all the info Peter. Sounds a lot easier than I thought. I see lots of people using their drones with a hand controller so this sounds much more simple. Hope you enjoy using yours and get some great shots 😊
