i believe if they came back today they would do better, because of the change that's coming in the music industry. There music was great for only two members and doing their own writing. I believe also had they taken longer to write other songs they would have had created more hits like "That's Not My Name". That's why you get so many "one" hit bands. Once they get one hit they drive so fast and trying writing the next hit song. Once being in the biz, it don't work that way. She has the voice and instrument talent and the drummer knew his stuff so, if they had just taken the time; Wow.
I'm an American. I'm TELLING you. If you're a British women and no dudes are into you come...to...America. With that accent you could say "I poop myself a lot" or whatever and you'd STILL have men all over you....it's the accent. (the fact that you didn't pronounce the "t" in "a lot" and you read this in a British Accent makes you attractive, despite the fact that you might poop yourself "uh-law". Fancy talking there, Miss.
I wasn't offended. There is no need to apologize. Everything is cool. I just wanted to clarify what I was saying. From the way you write, considering that English is not your first language, I have to say you write remarkably well.
I actually never insinuated that being a good artist entails that you have to play an instrument. I spoke about three elements which make up a good artist. I mentioned singing, playing instruments, and/or song writing. If you have any ONE of these, I considered you a good artist. My problem is that people like J. Lo, who sell more records than Brandi, aren't able to do ANY of the three things well. J. Lo can't sing well, play an instrument, or write good music. It’s all my opinion, of course.
I actually agree with you on this, except that you can actually be a good artist without playing an instrument. It helps, but is not in itself something that makes you a good artist. There are so many good musicians out there who do not sing. And atleast in Norway we have som good artist that can not play any instruments at all.
Brandi is a strong represtntative of women in the world like myself who stand for something, make you think & strive to blaze whatever path she follows.
Brandi is correct that women are selling more music, but unfortunately the top selling female artists aren't selling good music. What they are mainly selling is a sexy image, music being secondary. If people actually valued quality music, they would be buying more music of Brandi Carlile than of people like J. Lo and Rihanna, who don't play instruments, whose voices are digitally enhanced, and who are more popular for how they look as opposed to their singing and song writing talent.
I love her accent. I'm from Texas and generally dislike Southern accents, maybe because I associate them with all the idiots I know, but she makes it attractive. ;)
Ooh, that's such an interesting point about women's music being a genre. I never thought about it before, but yeah, all the most celebrated singers in the history of this country are actually men. The "king" of rock, the "king" of pop, the Beatles.
@watsonvillian I don't see any resemblance between Sheldon and her, Sheldon is a in your face pissed off hell raiser making his own name and music which is what country music is missing and she is uh none of that at all.
I love her guitar playing and voice, I just don't like the sound of her music... I think she has the skills to play heavier, more rock songs, not pop :P
Oh my gosh, she signed CDs and merchandise at her concert tonight and I went up to get my CD signed and I had no idea what to say. I love her so much and I just stood there. She was so beautiful. One of the cutest people I have really ever met.
