WE CAN PUT A MAN ON THE MOON, BUT WE CANNOT FIND A CURE FOR CANCER. I WANT THIS GOVERNMENT AND THE MEDICAL PROFESSION TO QUIT PUTTING PROFITS ABOVE PATIENTS,IT'S THE PATIENTS WHOSE LIVES COME FIRST NOT THE MONEY.
I've seen many of these types of 'in memoriams' for tv and film starts but I don't think I've seen one for baseball players. great selection of clips, sound bytes, and great editing. really nice job!
IM A HUGE YANKEES FAN...BUT ITS HEART BREAKING TIM WAKEFIELD AND HIS WIFE BOTH DIED FROM CANCER...MAY THEY REST IN PEACE...P.S. WAKEFIELD WAS AN AWESOME PITCHER FOR THE RED SOX..
From the title... I really thought this was gonna be about how theyve corrupted and ruined the original game sooo much.... That it is dead... The game that was The American Pastime... Gone... Automatic runner?? Automatic ridiculous, stupid, destruction of drama, the anticipation of a ongoing, possible HIGH INNING COUNT 15 to 20+ innings
I am not interested in doing a video like that. Go read the articles from the 1920's saying baseball is dead because it is no longer about skill but rather about hitting bombs and how Babe Ruth ruined the sport. Every year since the 1880s, there have been people declaring the death of the sport I love. If you want to be pessimistic, go ahead. I choose to celebrate. Be well.
@@sullybaseball the physically blind people cant pretend they arent blind...they cant live in such a delusion... They must face that reality of being blind... But at least they dont actually choose their condition... As many do.
@@sullybaseball And simply put... You're taking some critics who complained of Ruths home run frequency.. and EQUATING it with INTENTIONAL CORRUPTERS CHANGING THE FUNDEMENTAL RULES of the game from what they ALWAYS WERE. . So... that's just plain irrational... Your idolatry causes such a desperate condition.... in which you must strive to explain away such obvious gross perverting... In a effort to defend your inappropriate & inordinate worldly attachment You need to call out to JESUS THE TRUTH, THE ALMIGHTY

Well done. I'm old enough to have seen a majority of the players mentioned play ball. Time does march on but man, it still sucks watching these men move on to the next dimension.

Did not know the Buddy Harrelson, Frank Howard, and Dacmve Gullet died. Roger Craig also. The others I never heard of them. Frank Howard hit one in the old Yankees Stadium in the left field 3rd deck. It was estimated to have traveled over 500 feet. The only other man to do it was Mickey Mantle.

@AMEER-wp2mm I agree with you. On a local station where I live, a sports show said starting pitchers now pitch an average of 5 innings. Koufax, Ford, Gibson, Seaver and many other pitchers of the past completed a 9 inning game. I have not watched baseball for 20 years.
@@roncaruso931 And notice how ZERO player or any baseball person at all of now or who is still alive from the past says anything against the absolute ridiculousness of many alterations that have ruined the game... in the supposed purpose of "improving"what was the perfect game for 150 years... Is that possible? That know one at all would oppose? ..unless they KNOW that they dare not speak against it because to do so would be to oppose the fearful power that is behind the corruption of everything.
@AMEER-wp2mm I wish I were back in the old Yankee Stadium. Watching Mantle and Maris. Back then, they let you into the stadium for batting practice. The players these days are all big gorillas. Steroods and weights. It all started with Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa. I remember when the players were all different sizes. Some were skinny, some were muscular. Some tall and some short. The game is ruined now. I never watch a single half inning.

Yes, Grant Jackson was a 1969 NL all-star, but more importantly, he won a World Series in 1979 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was the game 7 winning pitcher...
Sad that TOM SEAVER one of the clearest thinking, intelligent and articulate baseball analysts ever, would die of mind scrambling dementia from LEWY BODIES disease, the latter is about too much of the alpha-synuclein protein being deposited in the brain.. Damned shame.. R.I.P. at 75.. TOM, you were one terrific player, too.. No pitcher today measures up..
Best fielding one.. yes. Best all-around was/is MIKE SCHMIDT.. Best pure hitting third sacker= GEORGE BRETT.. As far as fielding and range: 1. BROOKS R. 2. BILLY COX BROOKLYN DODGERS 3. GRAIG NETTLES 4. CLETE BOYER 5. NOLAN ARENADO 6. MIKE SCHMIDT 7. DOUG RADER 8. BUDDY BELL 9. GEORGE BRETT 10. MATT CHAPMAN
Not only was Dick Groat a multiple all star, MVP , and played on WS winners in 60 and 64, he was an All-American basketball player at Duke and played briefly in the NBA. He spent 40 years doing the color commentary for Pitt hoops
I watched a number of these men play when I was a young fan rooting for the Cincinnati Reds. Don Gullet was a great pitcher who had a number of injuries over his career. He went 15-4 with a 2.42 era in 1975 despite missing two months with a broken thumb. Bill Plummer also played for the Reds as a backup to the great Johnny Bench. Plummer was a dependable player who once got 3 hits in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals in 1976. I saw or heard so many of these men play against the Reds that I feel like they were part of my family. Thanks for posting this nicely done video.
I didn't know Mike Shannon died. To listen to "Live at Shannon's" after a Cardinals game on KMOX was as good a baseball education as you could get. Absolute Cardinal Legend.
