I would argue that no matter how big your voice is, you cannot sing the heavy stuff without a serious commitment to legato, as Mr. Meachem demonstrates wonderfully here. Bravo!

Considering that he was severely out of shape e t c, it's even more incredible that he was able to sing like he did. It's like with Freddie. It leaves you with a "How the fu** did he do that??". I'm an expat, but I still listen to this every Christmas. Of course it makes a little bit more sense to me since I know that he's singing.

This is fabulous. Really and truly. I actually thought I'd given up on baritones and bass-baritones, looking for a beautiful tone that's handled with musicality. Usually you hear just a big wobble of big, pushed sound. This is the complete opposite: musicality, gorgeous open tone, and completely in-tune.

That's just showing off. Most baritone roles only require an A flat 4 or if you prefer a G sharp 4. If you have the extended range good for you, it doesn't take away from those that don't have it.

It's so hard to NOT oversing this aria in some of the middle range phrases, especially after the orchestra comes in strong at the halfway point. My G is always sore and tired by the time I get to it. Then again it would be strange if I could comfortably sing this at 22 yrs old
