Just like all of the other commentors - the installation video shows the strike plate being installed backwards, but it clearly demonstrates how the thumb-latch will fall out every time one uses it. The strike plate is in the correct position by the end of the video..... Nothing like "real-life" instructions
How do you close the door from inside the room. I assume you have to slide it across whilst going in and then use a flush handle on the other side to close when inside ?
I have this same latch except my fence is made of plastic not wood. Is the installation in plastic the same as for wood? It seems the screws into hollow plastic will not work. What say you?
If you are ordering this gate lock, please note that the spring is no longer needed Our new PATEND latch is now new and improved and is spring loaded. See our new videos at yardlock.com or subscribe and view on our RU-vid channel, YARDLOCK.
This was incredibly helpful! This bonehead (me) was just going to guesstimate a place for it. Now I know, 2" from the edge of the door 😊 I also appreciate learning that the screw was inside the doorstop and base. I was trying to figure out what kind of screw to buy for it, because the bag didn't mention including screws, and you couldn't find any after opening the bag. Thanks again for the incredible step by step info!!
Have the same questions as planning to instal it in a bathroom and would like to know if there is a way to unlock from outside if someone locks it from inside
Why are both of yours the same as in 5 holes each? Mine has two holes on one and five holes on the other and there is no video on youtube that shows which way to mount those.
Lmao! 😂 drill a 1.5 inch hole through door and push “lock” through. Hold up other section on wall where the “lock” is and screw 2 screws to secure it in place. Boom you are done in 3 minutes flat and a minute and a half of that is finding the hole saw and a minute of cleaning up the tiny amount of saw dust and 15 seconds to throw dust in garbage and toss tools in their area…… so 15 seconds of actual work. If you can’t understand that from just seeing the video then I assume you hire out lightbulb changing. 🤦♂️
I know what you mean, I too searched RU-vid for a video that would make sense on how this is suppose to work. Unfortunately for us we won’t find any such video. First of all in order for the thumb latch to work your gate can’t be thicker than 2”. even then the thumb latch will fall out the first time your gate closes with any force at all. If your gate is spring loaded it’s going to fall out .
