Still own my TS-940 and only occasionally operate but getting the bug for a new radio. 7610 looks impressive but I see the 990 was made to follow the 940. The case dimensions and weight are almost identical to 940. 7610 looks like quality rig but half the weight. For extra 900 dollars, you get a heftier device built to almost mil specs. BTW bought the 940 used in 1998 and almost flawless since it was used a lot for first ten years I had it
With the speed of today's technology older rigs without SDR are becoming yesterday's obsolete high end. My 990 has a great receiver but the FTDX 101 and the FTDX 10 are just as pleasant to listen too. The same with the IC 7600 compared to the IC 7610. The SDR is just perfect. My TS 990 is still my main but not for the receive or transmit. It's just a buitiful rig . And the FTDX 10 is becoming a perfect entry into the modern SDR architecture. Kenwood needs to breakout with a SDR line. 73,s
Just wanted to add - apologies if you are watching this with headphones on. It was a tad loud in places wasn't it?! They really are very nice wireless receiving aparatus & well worth the money. Pop into the store and have a twiddle! 73 de G4HKS
Seeing the SWR and Tuner would be nice. Went out for a POTA a few weekends ago and the G90 was able to take the place of unplugging/replugging a RigExpert. I could have my son change the length of the telescoping mast and I'd see the change on the SWR sweep as soon as he backed away 10ft. Does this have something similar?
This will be a fail for Xiegu. They never fixed the issues with the 6100 and now they brought this out at a much higher price with a lower output and all from a company focused on marketing rather than making their radios do what they advertise.
Speed tested in Germany: Sirio mag mount with a Nagoya 2m/70cm, and Generic mag mount with 11m centre loaded antenna 100mph verified no issues. Even in the UK the same set up 80mph middle of the roof doesn't move anywhere.
I beta test for XieGu and have the preproduction/prototype X6200 also. XieGu are producing a VHF/UHF module that will plug into the expansion port on the top of the radio giving it 2 metres and 70cms, making it a shack in a box. 73de Wayne 2e0bvj
The overall finish looks really refined, nice tooling on the case. I have the x5105 and recently the x6100 pretty sure I will get this one as well. Love that antenna, does the 6100 also have that cool FT8 feature?
@mateuszk3210 Xiegu's are cheap but they do have a high amateur value. Look at the Icom IC-9700 and the Yaesu FT-991A: those have faults too. Ranking on eHam is the same, so many people are happy with it. Let's hope these China-radios provoke a quality and innovation wake up call at the big three some day soon.
I understand that they want to sell as many x6200s as possible but... For me the x6100 is perfect. With the Russian firmware i can RX AND TX ON FT4/FT8. cheaper radio, 5-10watt. Be honest about everything please.
@@JJ-el8li R1CBU has cancelled the developpment of that firmware and is thinking about making an open transceiver, since he has enough of Xiegu's coding and hardware!
Glad I found the channel. I will be following. Back in the 90s my brother and friends etc all had sets. It completely died around here. Would love to get back into it again
