😊This is the first video where the host explained the purpose of step flashing. Fantastic. I was tempted to use one long piece of flashing, which would have caused leaks. It may lack the visual of installation, but it really helped me out more than the other videos i watched
nails really, what's the wind resistance warranty? How does this product hold up against hurricanes and tornadoes? What about major hail events and wind driven projectiles?
"When cutting steel siding a ferrous cutting blade must be used. A carbide tip saw blade with the max number of teeth per the diameter of the blade. Cutting thin steel requires lots of teeth on the saw blade. Never use a grinder or an abrasive type of saw. Failure to do this may damage the protective finish applied to the siding and void the warranty. Always make sure to wear protective safety glasses and gloves when cutting/handling steel siding. Follow safety instructions that accompany your tools/blades and wear the suggested protective gear." Actually we test against wind, fire and hail ratings and we receive top scores. Our weep holes allow any water that may get behind the panel to move down and away from the home or evaporate. Steel offers a premium solution, but with our lifetime warranty including chalk and fade many homeowners feel it's one of the best values on the market. Thanks for the comment.
What is the price per sqft and if you have a large home like, 4000 sqft of exterior walls to do, is there any discount on volume. I was thinking of doing black metal roof, gutter and then exterior walls after I saw a wood grain. Thanks!

With hundreds of steel siding jobs under my belt I will say you're using the worst snips to cut steel with. If I were your customer and you use that level on my guaranteed non-level house I'd run you off.
Since you said you have worked with steel sidings a lot, what do you think about steel sidings? I heard it’s really loud when it heats up in the summer, is it true?
@@King-2077 Back when Alside was owned by US Steel I worked a lot of brown steel siding. It got real hot. Average steel siding has PVC as the color while other brands use the type of paint used on steel roofing. The PVC absorbs the suns heat while the roofing kind of paint reflects the suns rays. I've seen my share of vinyl siding melt. I'd prefer Hardy board but being a cement product expands and contracts like nothing else. My biggest complaint with steel is the PVC coming off and how Gentek carelessly comes and paints what's peeling and leaving the mess. The manufactures have priced steel siding to where a valid conversation to go with brick should be considered. Every other month I get notice that steel siding and its accessories are going up 12-15% and brick is forever. I try to stay as close to gutter work and stay away from an unstable siding industry. During the Soetoro years I watched as small siding manufactures were gobbled up by bigger corporations and a lot of products were deleted meaning not available.
I found this very odd to do it this way to knowing nothing about siding. I came to this video for DIY first time siding info needed for patchworking a permanently removed in wall A/C. Even knowing nothing about siding, my instincts told me this was not the way to do it. Thank god for comments. I am going to unhook the higher level and replace.
